Just spotted over at the Bay Area Riders Forum is one of my favorites, the Max Biaggi race replica Aprilia RS250 with the Chesterfield livery. This one sounds like a well sorted example and looks complete.
Here’s the authors description:
I am considering selling my namesake of a bike, my 1995 Aprilia RS250 Chesterfield edition. This is the official Max Biaggi replica, not a transformed 250 with sticker kit. I’m the 3rd owner, but have owned it since 2000.
Bike has 11,723 miles. Top end rebuld at 10,000 with new Wiseco pistons and one cylinder plated at Millenium Tech. Everything is stock except the toby steering damper, turn signals, Boysen reeds and Arrow pipes. Also comes with an alarm.
More details if you ask. Willing to consider trades for nice car of similar price range. Asking $10,000 for the bike. Did I mention that bike is plated for street use and I just renewed registration.
This is the first year for the RS250 (correction: 1994 was the first year for the RS250 with the Reggianni replica. See comments.) and it features the VJ22 two stroke from Suzuki’s RGV250. This one has the yellow piping around the number plates which is correct for 1995 versus the green piping found on the 1996 Biaggi rep. Being a 95-97 model it has the simpler gauge package, slightly more angular body work, and the thinner front wheel compared to the 98-04 models. The RS250 was never imported to the U.S. as a road legal bike and we only got the Cup bikes for the race series.
This example looks pretty clean with signs of actual use as seen in the tell-tale slightly foggy headlamp lens and sun faded decals. I’m personally not a fan of the aftermarket carbon-look turn signals and upper frame cover but they’re easy enough to put back to stock. There are some additional race stickers added which don’t look out of place, especially since the factory sticker kit is over the clear-coat from the factory anyway.
While $10k is a premium price these don’t come up for sale too often and it has plates. Just from the pictures and description it sounds like a very honest rider that will certainly attract attention at your local meet — not to mention since it’s not perfectly showroom you can actually ride it and enjoy it accordingly. Depending on the documentation and the actual known history of the bike (the tricky part for any gray bike), it could be worth close to that. Of course I’m biased since I have one myself and would love to believe it’s worth that much!

Hey, that’s my bike. I’m the 3rd owner of the bike and have owned it since 2000. Bike really hasn’t been ridden over the last 6 years, but a top end was done at 10,000. Bike is mainly stock, except the Toby damper and arrow exhaust. Service was done either by myself or Scuderia in San Francisco.
Hi Walter,
Thanks for stopping in to comment on the post and good luck on the sale!

1994 Loris Reggiani replica was the first year for the RS250.
Johnny,
Thanks for the note. Alot of the references I’ve been looking at don’t show the 94 but after alot of research on apriliaforum.com, it looks like you’re right. Much appreciated,
dc
[…] These early RS250′s are the first available from Aprilia though many think 95 was the first year — like me until readers like you set me straight on this earlier post for a Chesterfield last year. […]
