1985 Suzuki RG400 Gamma Ultra rare 4cyl 2 stroke street bike. Little brother to the 500 Gamma at half the price. This bike is a Japanese only market motorcycle and much rarer than the 500 Gamma. Maybe a dozen or two in the U.S. very rarely seen. This bike is very original only a few body parts re sprayed otherwise pretty stock. If you like 2 strokes it doesn’t get much better than a RG Gamma. This bike has not been registered in the U.S., that is up to the new owner. Please don’t ask about registering the bike, it can be done but not by me. The ultimate in your face outlaw 2 stroke, not for everyone but a nice example of the type.
RSBFS
In the daily search for the rare ones, Red found this cool bike.
As reader David stated when we posted a Gamma last month on RSBFS, “Something about the Suzuki blue/white color schemes just seems so right…”
For those who missed last month’s Gamma, we quoted be moto, “The lesser-spotted RG400 Gamma was the little brother to the RG500 Super Sports bike inspired by the 1984 500GP machine. It was only produced for the domestic Asian market, with 400cc bikes extremely popular in Japan at the time. Very few were ever exported on the grey market, none were produced specifically for export.”
This is a rare one indeed.
Good luck to the buyer and seller!
Please don’t asked about how to register? No problem and I won’t asked if you would like cash or check either. You win!
Ha, yeah not the best sales pitch!
His “ultimate in your face outlaw 2 stroke” claim is amusing. It works well for the RG500. With the RG400, well, not so much. The bikes are a world apart and all the superlatives he can write won’t change the fact that the RG400 is nowhere near the RG500 in terms of performance, desirability, and value.
He says “If you like 2 strokes it doesn’t get much better than a RG Gamma.” That is absolutely correct, but unfortunately for him, the 400 Gamma doesn’t fit that description. I don’t blame him for trying. Collectors don’t typically desire the RG400 and the salvage title means making it a daily rider could be a challenging endeavor.
The RG400 isn’t exactly rare with over 6000 built. The 1985 RG400 makes 59 HP, which puts it on par with RZ350s of the same year (non-US spec, which put out 52 HP).
