Tiny Track Toy: 1993 Yamaha TZR50/80
Yes, another chicken chaser. It has been too long since I’ve been able to use that phrase. I love the little bikes. They are unique and I bet 90% percent of us would circulate around a track faster on these glorified mopeds than on a big bike. Lets be honest, wouldn’t it be fun to have a thrash around bike to live out your MotoGP fantasies on? At worst it could be used to terrorize your neighborhood.
I think anyone with a YSR50 might feel inferior when they see your track ready TZR. It won’t be spacious but it looks like the TZR gives more room than the munchkin YSR. The bonus is the seller has installed a 80cc kit on the bike. If anyone ever had a KX,RM,CR or YZ80 as a kid, you might remember those things motivated pretty damn nicely.
Some notes from the seller:
liquid cooled 80cc race kitted engine with kitaco components(reeds, intake)
newly painted, frame powdercoated, tuned up and ready to race, just need new tires
very light weight two stroke racer
no title, track only
I’ve heard people talk about Kitaco multiple times lately. I have no firsthand experience with them but they seem highly respected in mini racing circles. Here is a link to their site in Japan.
Toys aren’t cheap. The seller has a BIN of $3,250 on the bike. Quite pricey for an impulse buy but maybe reasonable for a race prepped bike of similar size. I can picture myself at a track day feeling good about my riding and some 12 year old come flying by me on this thing. Depressing. Here she is.
The last of the TZR breed? Maybe. Yamaha was still producing the TZR50 for some markets in 2011. Pretty darn sporty for a 50.
