Craigslist Finds Spotted by Our Readers

Our mailbox is bursting at the seams this week with Craigslist finds! Some of these we may have posted before or on our Facebook page, but archived listings often don’t have fresh contact info or prices. Take a look:

From Victor, a 1987 Yamaha TZR250 in San Diego

From R.G., this 2008 Ducati Monster TriColore

and this 2007 Aprilia RSV Mille R 1000 Factory in Boston

And a Yamaha R7 in Cleveland from GD:

1992 GSXR-400RR For Sale: Looks Stock and Affordable

And it’s registered in California, which is always a nice bonus. Check out this 1992 GSXR-400RR For Sale on the Bay Area Craigslist for $4k obo:

Pros:
Very Rare

new tune up
new brakes pad

runs excellent

Cons:
Speedo out

$4k is pretty cheap for any decent gray market bike, let alone with a title. If mileage and history is good on this one, I wouldn’t think twice.

1991 CBR400RR For Sale in San Jose

This one has a few miles on it, but it does have a title!

1991 CBR400rr NC29 CA street-titled – $5500 on Craigslist

1991 Honda NC29 CBR400RR For Sale1991 Honda NC29 CBR400RR Headlights

quote from Craigslist ad:

This is a clear street-titled grey-market CBR400. The Odometer reads 33,000 Kilometers which is approximately 20K miles. This CBR400RR is in amazingly clean shape. There is no indication that the motorcycle has spent any time horizontally. Single key for all locks.

This CBR400RR was imported from Japan by a service member who got the bike properly titled and registered through the California DMV. The motorcycle comes with a letter from a Honda dealer indicating that the bike complies with California Emissions.

Additionally, the bike has an aftermarket high performance shock (Penske), a de-restricted CDI, brand new engine covers, new upper triple clamp, many new bolts (only changed for cosmetic reasons).

The price is: $5,500
This is the top end of the market value but this bike is clearly one of the cleanest examples that you will ever find.

The price is firm. No trades. No checks, money orders or nonsense please.
No money = No test rides!

I’d have to say the graphics on this one wouldn’t be my first choice, but it’s titled and de-restricted already. Is this the Baby-Blade you’ve been looking for Steve?

Update: Thread on BARF for this CBR400RR For Sale

Yamaha FZR400: 3 Great Original Examples For Sale

These three bikes are most certainly survivors amongst the majority that were either raced or ridden hard and put up wet. While not gray market bikes per say, they were very rare to begin with in the U.S. And their features made them much more desirable than the FZR600 due primarily to their aluminum (vs. steel in the 600) frame, slightly less powerful but highly entertaining 400cc motor, and less watered down suspension.

With less hassles than the other gray market 400’s of it’s era, they are certainly worth mentioning here. Many would even consider these entry level bikes, though I would keep one in the back even if I was #46 Valentino Rossi.

Here’s three Yamaha FZR400 examples for sale right now and are 100% legal to own in the U.S. :

Here we have a fine example of the rare FZR400 (Do a google search on this bike and read the write-ups). This one unlike many others has never been raced or abused and has low miles. It was high rev and one of the best handling bikes ever produced and is already considered a collectors bike(don’t believe me, read the write-ups). They were only imported for three years(1990 was the most desirable year), and were more expensive than the FZR600’s It comes with the original owners manual and tool kit and a factory manual. It has a D&D performance header and exhaust system (i still have the factory exhaust) Note:the bike will have to be tuned properly for this exhaust ( If anyone has the name of a good tuner in O.C. please contact me) I have the title and bike is currently registered. If you know what this bike is about you will want to see this one.

Update 5.29.08: 1988 FZR400 For Sale on Craigslist $2400 (ingleside / SFSU / CCSF):

The bike has been well taken care of and blast to ride.

Thanks markj2k4 on VWVortex for the last one.

As a previous owner of an FZR600 I am always aroused when I see any FZR in the kind of condition these bikes are in, let alone the rare FZR400. If you want to skip the gray market hassles, these bikes should fit the bill very well indeed!
