Retro Red-1984 Honda VF1000F Interceptor
Can you name the year the Apple Macintosh was introduced? How about the year the Winter Olympics were held in Sarajevo? Remember the year Reagan defeated Walter Mondale? If the answers came easy to you, you might just be a fan of the 1984 (or getting old like me) and this Honda might have just been a fantasy back then. The years have rolled by but someone kept awfully good care of this VF1000F and now is your chance to relive a little of the 80’s.
Sport bikes have come along way since 1984; haven’t they. The VF1000F pumped out a healthy 133hp using Honda’s 16 valve V-4 engine. It was later followed by the racier VF1000R that you may be familiar with. I get nervous now looking at that thin aluminum frame with that big V-4 stuffed in there. Back then you would have just thought that this was the sh*t! This particular bikes appears to be in great shape and babied over the years and has covered just over 13,000miles. Best of all they have left it alone so it is all original. If you’d like a little more info on the bike I stumbled on this nice little site with info on all the big VF’s.
The details with some links so you can do some comparison shopping:
It is very rare to find one of these in mint condition. This bike is flawless and all orginal, 13+ K miles. Has always been kept indoors, always adult owned (orginally bought by an airline pilot). Has the orginal owner’s manual, shop manual, tool kit and factory cover. One sold at the MidAmerica auction in Vegas, January 2008 for $8800 see: http://www.midamericaauctions.com/showauction.asp?Keywords=VF1000&Search=Search&ID=104and one hit $7800 on ebay, but didn’t make the reserve see: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270622652363&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT Thank you for your interest. (You are welcome to come over and check the bike out).

You’ll have to come up with at least $5,500 just to join the party on this one. Is it worth it to the average guy? Probably not but for those of you out there looking for that bike they missed out on years ago; well it just might be. Anything this old with relatively low miles and original will fetch a higher price. That is why we call them rare sport bikes. While you are at it, it might be fun to find one of those old Macs too. .
Here is a nice clean example idling for your pleasure:
