While it’s not quite a unicorn, it’s close. Today we have a 93 CBR900RR for sale by it’s original owner with just 5100 miles. And while it has a couple insignificant cracks in the upper fairing, it comes with factory replacement panels to make it perfect. The CBR900RR is a RSBFS fan favorite, especially in these colors. Bid accordingly!

1993 Honda CBR900RR for sale on eBay
from the seller:
Up for auction is my 1993 Honda CBR 900RR. I have had this bike since new. The bike has 5112 original miles and is in absolutely mint condition. It has only seen water twice in its life and that was to wash it off. Never ridden in rain. Always kept in my house. When you get on this bike it is like getting on a brand new bike. It has no issues whatsoever. The tank looks like new inside with no rust. It has never had bad gas in it and has been maintained by me, a professional mechanic. It runs like new and has no paint chips or scratches, at least that I have found. All original except the tires and blue anodized bars ends. I have the original tires and they will go along with the sale. I changed them around 2500 miles just because of age. They still look like new. I put the new tires on a few years back and they have the remaining balance of miles that are on the bike. I should still have the original bar ends somewhere also. There is one issue about the bike and that is the upper fairing. The day the shop took it out of the crate the bike started to fall over and the assembly tech grabbed it by the upper fairing as it was falling and it put two cracks in it. No paint loss or scratches just two cracks and I have shown them in the pictures. No other damage was done. It was no big deal to me as they ordered a brand new fairing from Honda when it became available. They gave me the replacement fairing and it will go with the bike. It is brand new in box. I never bothered replacing it since the original looked great and I figured I would keep it in case of emergency. The exhaust is original all though I removed the black paint from the muffler and polished the aluminum.
I always loved these bikes . My friend used to rent me his on the occasion back in the mid 90s . I cannot believe I never actually bought one myself . I had a nearly brand new Hurricane 600 in 1988 . One more inline after that (a ZX-7) , after that it was V-fours….. These 900R engines are good for 100 000 mi. if you do the proper maintenance . And the look (style) still looks fresh all these years later . Good luck to the seller .
Only hand washed twice in 5,000 miles? That sounds almost like neglect to me!
Beautiful! I desire to own one in this year and color combo. 1993 is my birth year. Plus the fact its the first small liter class bike makes it all sorts of awesome in my head.
A friend let me take his new one out in ’93. I was so amazed. Instantly I could go faster with my wife on the back of it than solo on my own bike. Went to pass a line of five cars on an open straight and I couldn’t give it full throttle, the front end was coming up at a buck twenty! This bike changed everything.
i have one and my exhaust is black?…. I am pretty sure they come in black only. maybe I am wrong… anyone
scratch that I see it in the add.. I have to read better, come to think of it my teach said that too….. LOL
It’s funny how fast we remember stuff being, but in retrospect wasn’t that fast at all. Any modern 600cc bike would leave a 900rr for dead, but there is no denying that the bike was revolutionary for its time. I’d own it! Stunning example of the model too, I might add.
Another well written ad with sharp photos yet lacking a front view with the great twin round headlamps flanked by drilled holes……
It is sad that these and the 919s were a favorite for 10 mile monos with the likes of Starboyz
Joe
That muffler looks correct but he must have taken the paint off. Mine was peeling and I repainted it, but once it starts coming off it is not hard to remove the rest.
After reading his description I noticed he confirmed he took the paint off.
As conceived, this was supposed to be Honda’s inline-4 750 and too bad it wasn’t. They say they didn’t want to compete with their own VFR sales. A good ZX-7 would easily beat this bike.
I have to disagree about this bike not being faster than a modern 600. I bought one new in 1993 and put 48,000 miles on it in 3 years. Never should have sold it. It was incredibly light with great torque, and would easily have pulled away from any 600, old or modern. But that’s not the point. This bike was a milestone in sport bike development, ran and handled beautifully, and was as reliable as a rock! James and others, you should actually read the ebay ad. There is a great front picture, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1993-Honda-CBR-900RR-only-5112-Miles-/171139108459?pt=US_motorcycles&hash=item27d8af8e6b
and he clearly says he polished the muffler, which would be easy to paint black, as it originally was. I’m sorely tempted to bid on this bike. Anyone want to buy a 1998 Ducati 900 SS/FE?
P.S. I’m a different Joe.
Interesting bit of trivia….. Who knows why there are holes drilled in the front and sides of the fairing?
To make it appear as light as possible. Following the philosophy of the minimum weight, no extra plastic except where needed.
(Steve) That’s what I thought as well, but back then lots of race teams were experimenting with drilling holes in the side of the fairings to allow air to pass through, making easier side to side transitions at speed. Honda decided to incorporate some holes in the CBR 900 RR street bike for looks/statement. Kinda cool.
Research WillowSprings magazine test track times for a 93 cbr900rr vs say, a 2013 ZX6r. Also, compare ET’s and trap speeds obtained by the magazine 1/4 mile tests. And compare curb weight. And then get back to us. 😉
A good ZX-7 would easily beat this bike? Based on what? The ZX-7 weighed 40 pounds more and was down on HP by 10 based on a 1998 model (111 HP versus 128 for CBR for 93-94)
I find there are a lot of young guys who think any sportbike from the 90’s can’t keep up to their new 600.
Has made riding the ’93 FZR1000 a lot of fun!
He sold the bike off ebay and ended the ebay auction early, or else changed his mind!
Man ebay has been shadier than a back bathroom stall at an I95 rest stop lately. What’s with all the mysterious ended auctions?
Japanese marketing gimmick?
Bought it
Congrats rob! Let us know how it is when you receive it.

How much?
(Rob) that was a good buy. I was right behind you and the seller was a nice guy, I liked him. Enjoy it that is a great bike and let me know if you don’t like it 😉
I know its not the same but I have a 1996 900rr and I freaking love it. Good buy for sure. I was trying to get my buddy to buy it as he is a collector but he dropped the ball.
The story goes it sold for 8k. At that price I feel there is room to grow. This is an icon of a bike and to find one not beat but loved is rare… Good on you for getting him to close the auction as it would have fetched more… I would have bid
Wow, 8 grand for a mass produced Jap bike from the 1990’s no less? The only Jap bikes that should even bring close to that are pristine cb750’s and CBx’s. As the saying goes, there’s a sucker born every day!
Glad to see there are varying opinions on value here. And there are a bunch of factors to consider when making this determination. Try to find another one in this color combo that has low miles and is owned by the original owner and has been well maintained. There are None. Well maybe one or two somewhere but none I have found after looking for a long while. Some of us that are collectors are not as concerned about the price as we are with the prize and this is a nice prize. I will enjoy it and Tim have fun with your CB750 or CBX…..are those even sport bikes?
$8 k is not the correct price btw.
Check the 86 gsxr1100 that sold in the spring for $13k.
Earth to Rob, Earth to Rob, come in. Dude, how old are you? Do you not realize sport bikes existed prior to 1984? The sand case cb750 was one of THE original sport bikes (that was 1969, BTW). Ever heard of a z1 Kawi? Expand your horizons, son!
Tim, I’ve been in the game long enough to have found out that “collectors” and “knowledgeable bike enthusiasts” are often mutually exclusive. Back in the day, collectors were generally knowledgeable people. And as you can see, today we have “collectors” who don’t even realize that CB750’s were sport bikes. Laughable!
Congrats to the lucky owners of both the cbr 900rr owners and the cb750 owners out there. They are all beautiful motorcycles.
Awesome bike. To those saying 8k is too much, get real.
Its not the point that a 93 900rr is worth 8k, its the point THAT ONE is worth 8k.
