… but none of them have been so affordable as this 1991 Suzuki GSF400 Bandit. Arriving at the tail end of the time when the Japanese manufacturers were taking a stab at getting the US populace interested in medium-spec (the good stuff was still mostly reserved for overseas markets) 400cc sports platforms, the Bandito served as Suzuki’s 400cc sporty-standard entry. Honda had the more-expensive CB400F CB-1, which was positively a jewel, but a staggering sales failure. Yamaha’s FZR400 needs no introduction, but it was yet more expensive. Sadly, 400s just didn’t work out here.
Following a simple and effective formula, the GSF400 used a stamped-steel, tubular frame, and air/oil-cooled four-cylinder, and a large-ish single front disc brake. They made a bit less power than Honda’s claimed 59 hp at the crank, but the little Bandit was also easier to live with during the normal day-to-day, being less frenetic.
There’s only one picture, and the listing is light on detail, but the seller is clear about it needing tires.
At $1150, this could be a steal. Something that’s this short on coin, but is this long on character and smiles per gallon is an extreme rarity.
I was just searching for pics of Bandit 400s to use as my desktop background when I came across this blue bandit that needs tires. I looked a little closer and sure enough it is the exact bike I bought about a month ago! I love this bike and it is definitely a head turner! Its just funny that in my search for a cool pic I end up finding the bike I just bought! AWESOME! real AWESOME!!
Bought in Ohio for the $1150
Tires: $160
Sweet Ride for sure
