For many years the RC51 was flying under the radar. Only a few diehard fans were burning the flame whole the RC30 and RC45 got all the attention. Well those days are well and truly over. As they have transitioned into a collectable realm demand has increased massively. While traditionally people shopping for a collectable are focused on finding the cleanest, lowest mileage and most original example they can fine, this can leave out amazing period built modified bikes like this Harris Honda RC51.
Modified when new by the legendary Harris Bother to showcase their line of products it is claimed the modifications cost more then the new bike did. The best of everything available at the time was used to reduce weight, increase the braking and improve the already excellent handling. The laundry list of top tier comments is an eye watering collection that would be almost impossible to replicate today. The large diameter AP Racing 6 pistons calipers hung on Ohlins superbike forks are instantly recognizable as a bike that means business.
Harris is well know for producing frames and offering an extensive catalog of upgrades for a wide range of motorcycles. They have raced in the premier class of almost every form of motorcycle road racing. Over the years they have partnered with OEM manufactures and been granted access to factory race parts to develop.

It would take hours to really pour over all the little details of this build. The asking price is eighteen thousand Pounds Sterling, or about $25,000. Anything this custom and unique is hard to price, but it is safe to say there is no way a passionate RC51 fan could ever hope to collect these parts and a clean base bike for that sum of money.
This would make an amazing period correct addition to a garage of someone that wants to experience the best of the best out on the road.
Now that is properly “rare”. Wonder what it would take to bring into the US and title?
Normally you need to wait out the 25year clock because at that point there really arent any rules.
BUT since the RC51 was available here there might be a path via the grey market.
