Honda had two V-twin solutions in their line-up for a few years, with the SuperHawk playing the supersport role to the RC51’s superbike. Today’s VTR1000F looks to have been adult-owned and carefully ridden for its rather low 10K miles.
2003 Honda VTR1000F SuperHawk for sale on eBay
A quick search on SuperHawk and RC51 chassis will illustrate the differences between the two machines. Both are alloy twin-spars, but the VTR1000F uses the crankcase casting to locate the swingarm. The engines are different as well, slightly less oversquare and less compression aboard the SuperHawk, but still a very able 110 hp. Somewhat more budget conscious, the VTR1000F used conventional forks, and 296mm brakes that reviewed as merely excellent rather than overpowering. The thirsty combination of 48mm Keihin carburetors and a 4.2 gallon tank caught flak on earlier models, but 2002 and later models hold 5.0 gallons.
This Illinois example is almost without modification and also lacks any suggestion of damage. The blue is as unusual as the smaller turn signals and rear fender-ectomy are typical. The owner shouts it out in the eBay auction –

EXTREMELY RARE FIND!
What a gorgeous example!
I just bought a 98 Superhawk last August. Unfortunately mine is not as pristine. It was laid down 10 years ago and had sat ever since. The prior owner had new OEM fairings (still in unopened plastic shipping bags) to replace what had been damaged in the fall.
Typical Honda quality…I rebuilt the carbs, threw on a aux fuel tank for now, and it fired right up after 10 years of sitting. Compression tests within a few points of service manual values. I’m taking my time and going through the whole bike but cant wait to ride it this summer.
Heard the larger tank wasn’t on US models?
That is a nice example. From experience, I would be inclined to upgrade the electrics, as they are suspect on these.
Wow, that brake reservior is huge. Looks like it holds 12oz! And that color definitely won’t make you think it is full of beer either. Though it might contain the oem DOT4.
All the same if that is all it needs, i don’t think you could make a better start.
I found the OEM brakes and suspension to be pretty substandard on this bike, and made upgrades accordingly.
