Following the 84 we posted the other day, here is an 85 ZX900R. This one is nearly all stock and while in stunning original condition actually has 12k miles. The reserve is already met at $3800 and has about a day left to go. My question is why do I find them nearly universally listed as both GPZ900R and ZX900R?

1985 Kawasaki ZX900R Ninja for sale on eBay
from the seller:
1985 Kawasaki ZX900R Ninja in impeccable condition with 12k original miles. All original parts, fairing, etc. No repaint. I have taken very good care of this bike, always garaged and serviced. Service details with compression testing, carb sync, all bearings checked or replaced. This bike is near museum quality, yet it is ridden several times a month and needs nothing. The only modifications to the bike are an added tinited windscreen and aftermarket handlebars for better riding comfort, but originals bars are available and they are easy to put on. These classic Ninja’s are getting harder and harder to find and one in this condition, even harder. It even has the original seat upolstery with no tears, fairings and tank are all original, no dents in the tank or scratches. The fairings, side panels, real panel and front fender are in excellent condition across the board a 9 to 9.5 out of 10. Please call me with any questions or send an email and I will respond as quickly as possible. This bike has a very reasonable reserve and I am hopeful it goes to a great new home to someone who truely appreciates this classic beauty.
The American bike was the original Ninja, and first to get that designation…the rest of the world got the GPz900R – a continuation/evolution of the GPz line up. Even the American version has the GPz logo on the engine cases
Kawasaki’s Model number for the bike is ZX900 A1 thru A3 for US models – the GPz 900R continued on in Europe and even longer in Japan into the early 2000’s. Basically unchanged except for thicker forks and the disposal of the 16′ front and 18″ rear to a more easy to find 17″ on both ends – also lost the anti-dive technology – which was not much of a loss
I still have my 1985 900 Ninja ZX900A2, purchased in the spring of 1985 – mint condition, all original paint, no dents or scratches… but a number of modifications that are all period correct and some up grades like mirrors from the A8 models that you can actually see more than your elbows with and the A8 control pods to get push to cancel signals… SuperTrapp pipes with 12 plates, Nexus header, Lockhart Lowers, Lockhart Clip Ons ( 1″ lower than stock) Zero Gravity Windscreen, Corbin Gun Fighter saddle, 1000 Ninja Carbs, etc… it’s a mid eighties time capsule and over 45k on her. It does not get ridden as much any more as an accident would be pretty devastating – none of the body work is available any more at all unless you are willing to get things shipped in right from Japan. It does still go like hell and rewards an aggressive rider.
Thanks Scott!
