In 1999, the iconic MV Agusta brand made a triumphant return, achieving greatness through the combined vision of Massimo Tamburini and the financial backing of the Cagiva Research Center. The result was a lineup of motorcycles that encompassed speed, uniqueness, and exquisite beauty.
2001 MV Agusta F4 750 for sale on eBay
Among them, the MV Agusta F4 took the path to sport bike glory by adopting cutting-edge technologies. Its inline four-cylinder engine with four-valve heads and fuel injection, coupled with the innovative Torque Shift System (TSS), allowed precise control of engine power throughout the rev range. Alongside TSS, another Formula 1-inspired technology graced the F4: the hemispherical head chamber boasting four valves per cylinder. Although the hemi head and radial valve arrangement significantly enhanced airflow and combustion efficiency, they weren’t entirely novel. Nevertheless, the 750cc power plant delivered a formidable 126 HP.
While embracing F1 influences, the F4 also paid homage to Tamburini’s past designs. Borrowing from the Ducati 916, which Tamburini also had a hand in, the F4 featured a single-sided swing arm and under-seat exhaust. The exhaust, a striking arrangement of four separate pipes, emitted a glorious sound. The bike’s frame was predominantly crafted from lightweight aluminum, complemented by robust front forks from Showa and tasteful carbon fiber accents.
The introduction of the F4 marked a major investment in technology, resulting in motorcycles that were not only exceptionally fast but also breathtakingly beautiful. With limited production and high prices, these bikes remained the exclusive domain of affluent riders and collectors. Today, they can be found in the used bike market at more realistic prices, though still considered a premium choice.
