I’m posting this late on Tuesday night, and as of right now the winning bid is a mere $3050! What’s the catch right? The seller is very upfront that this bike was purchased from the estate of the previous owner, who had it stored in his living room. It sounds like most of the necessary refreshing has been done or has parts included to make road ready, carbs cleaned, and it’s advertised as “runs excellent”. So aside from some other possible things to sort out after it’s been sitting, there is some kind of issue with the title and an extra frame is being included. Clearly a phone call to the seller is required here, and tons of better pictures, to get the rest of the story. But even if some DMV nightmare was awaiting, the low reserve really seems to suggest it would be worth the time to find out.

1995 Ducati 900SS/SP for sale on eBay
from the seller:
This bike was abandoned by the previous owner in the living room of a house that was foreclosed. I purchased this from the company hired by the Bank to clear and prepare the property
I have all the information required to obtain a clear title to this motorcycle.
I also have a 1996 Ducati 900SS frame with a clear title that is INCLUDED in this auction. It will be the buyers choice which avenue to pursue in registering this motorcycle.
LOW MILES! 4802 Miles!
Original Tires! (junk from age) I have two new Michelin Pilot Powers Radials, Z speed rated, in the stock size, Included, not mounted
The carbs were professionally cleaned last spring
New Ballistic battery, (less than 3lbs for those who don’t know)
New Galfer front braided stainless steel brake lines
Both front and rear fenders, as well as the clutch cover had faded, so I had them cleaned prepared and clearcoated with Glasurit, See Pictures
Scratch on top of gas tank.
Runs Great
Valves measured last spring
belts inspected last spring
Looked at the bike last night. The catch is the seller does not have the bike in his name, this could be an issue. The battery was dead so we could not start it. There is some lite corrossion on the motor cases and the swing arm. It just needs a good cleaning and all the services should be done like the belts and the cylinder studes should be replaced as they are still the silver ones that brake. after sitting that long i would just replace the clutch slav cylinder befor it starts to leak. It could be a good buy if you have time to deal with the dmv. I would not change the frame with the one he has as the forward motor mount was welded back on. I also forgot to look in the tank so not sure about rust.
Thank you for the first hand account Rick!

Not rare by any definition
Agreed. While I love these old supersports, I can’t wrap my head around the motivation for this post. Lots of “red” flags here; Unknown history, limited / lack of usage, probable mechanical neglect, queer title status. IMHO, the only value in this particular bike is to part it out. The clean used parts market is quite healthy.
Thanks Rick. I’m in the area too and was going to take a look. I’ve had a lot of dealings with WI DMV on bikes over the years. Things are getting tighter and harder. Title issues can take months to sort out. If the seller want to get top dollar, he would get the bike in his name. You often see the comment “have all the paperwork to get a title, easy to do at DMV.” If it’s that easy you need to do it. The last lost title I got took 6 months and 3 inspections. I won’t do it again.
