With only 9,429 miles and clearly a loving owner, this Aprilia is a sight to behold. I scrolled through the photos twice before reading the description, and then had to scroll through them again.
Marc Cook tells a great story about why this bike made it to the cover of the motorcyclist magazine in 2003. They were not planning to use the 2003 Aprilia Tuono on the cover, but after the writers took it on a joy ride and sent the editor home with it that night, it was clear that it deserved the spotlight.

The very first naked super bike, one of 50 imported into the USA, the 2003 Aprilia Tuono Racing broke new ground inspiring later motorcycles like the Ducati Streetfighter and the MV Agusta Brutale.Only the 2003 Racing has the full factory Aprilia race kit and it comes with the bike unused and complete. 9,429 miles, never raced, always meticulously maintained. Full Ohlins suspension, forged OZ wheels, TigCraft full titanium exhaust, Acculign rearsets, Lockhart billet bar-end mirrors, Sargent tri-color seat and much more. The ECU is managed by a two map Factory Pro EPROM tuned by former Aprilia factory supported race team manager Bill Himmelsbach. The stock and Aprilia Racing EPROMs are included. All original parts, spares as well as full service and purchase records come with the bike.
According to AF1 Racing, the largest Aprilia dealer in the USA in Austin, TX, the estimate is there are 28 2003 Tuono Racing models left in the USA, but only 1 in this condition which is immaculate and virtually flawless. No scratches, dents, abrasions, all carbon fiber is in perfect condition-you won’t find a better example anywhere. The tires are date coded 2010 so the sale includes a set of brand new Pirelli Diablo Rosso IVs. The bike is stored with a full tank of Sunoco GTX 98 Octane race fuel with no ethanol or oxgenates.
The Barber Museum in AL has one-IMO, this example, vin #77, is in better condition. Don’t miss your chance to own this rare and historic motorcycle.
RSBFS:
Tad wrote a great piece about this bike in 2018 on RSBFS stating, “Perhaps most significantly, unlike every other naked sport bike, the Tuono wasn’t detuned at all: the 998cc Rotax-developed v-twin still made 126 hp and 74 lb-ft. torque, while balance shafts meant it was surprisingly smooth, considering the 60degree configuration.”
If you are into the rare ones, there was only 50 of these imported to the US, and one is in the Barber museum.
Goodluck to the seller and buyer.

I got super excited about this when I first saw it but I think pricing here is not far off what a close to 0 mile version would be. It’s a shame as I would love to chat but I think we are too far apart on pricing and the market won’t support a number like this imo. GLWS.
Great bike, crap pictures.
beautiful, classic Aprilia. I think pricing is a bit on the high side.
I know that feeling.
