Nope, that is not a misprint. The 999R has 27,548 miles and the Desmosidici has an astounding 18,879! For once we can report on limited edition Ducati’s that weren’t living room displays but rather ridden as they should be, and often. Plus they’ve been maintained so there is some piece of mind that they are sorted and ready to go. Cosmetically they could both use attention, especially the 999R, but I expect the reserve is adjusted accordingly. The seller states that these are being sold as a pair to fund a Panigale 1199R, and my guess is that it won’t be a display queen!

2005 Ducati 999R and 2008 Desmosedici for sale on eBay
from the seller:
I’ve owned both bikes since new and neither bike has been crashed or abused. I have ridden both bikes exclusively on northern California twisty highways and a few track days. They have never been raced. The roads I ride on exposes the bikes to granite road gravel hence the front end paint chips. The 999r has been painted twice, suspension rebuilt by Kyle racing earlier this year, all chassis and wheel bearings replaced at 20k miles, all major and minor services by Ducati, and interim services by me. The Desmo is completely stock and had the suspension rebuilt last year. All major and minor services by Ducati and interim services by me. The Desmo had a completely new motor installed at 8,200 miles by Ducati due to cam gear failure. The new motor came with updated valve springs, cam gears, and other parts as Ducati experienced engine failures. Both bikes have had chain and sprockets replaced within the last two years and during their last services the compression was within specification. Both bikes have all original carbon fiber panels, tails, cowls, and belly pans. Regardless of the milage, the bikes are ridden regularly by an experienced rider and will continue to bring enjoyment for years to come. Both bikes will come with all original paperwork, red and spare keys, and service manuals. Bikes will be sold with “new” tires. Bikes are being sold as a pair only to make room in my stable for an Panigale 1199r. Please contact me with any questions you may have. Bikes could be parted out for the 1.5x the starting bid price alone.
Lol cam gear failure at 8200 miles on the Desmo. Piece of $hit Ducatis!
The Honda/Ducati shop here in Houston had a 16rr in the service department some time back for the same work. It was a warranty job. Since then I have seen several report of the same. If I were well funded and looking for a 16rr, I am thinking I’d rather get one that had already had the service/upgrade done already. Especially as I do not know if Ducati would be amenable to offering it free of charge 5+ years out and to a second or third hand owner.
999… Should have painted it a 4th time….. Doesn’t look good listing all the time and love spent on it then showing pictures of the most shagged out paint job I’ve ever seen. I have high mileage bikes with repaints, nothing looks like that. What does it look like under the bodywork? Looked after is looked after. Nuf’ said.

Looks like that 999 took part in a turkey shoot.
I think it was Duc Hunt…
