I have owned this bike for 11 years now, and I am the third owner. The bike is in excellent condition, approaching museum quality. The original owner purchased the bike new, and made enhancing performance and cosmetic changes to the bike, and the bike won 1st Place at the 1991 Cycle World’s Reader Collection Bike Show at the Pontiac Silverdome(home of the Detroit Lions for many years for you non-Michigan people). There are NO cracks in the body work anywhere, and paint is in excellent condition, outside of the FINAL three photos in the photo section showing the imperfections.Improvements from the early ’90’s to the bike (period correct) by the original owner include;
-Aerodynamic close out panel beneath the tail section
-Turn signals; Front – flush mounted and painted body color.
Rear – hidden under tail section above license plate
-Nine liter storage compartment in tail section by Speed Line

Though this model is not an R, at least you can bring a passenger and I always loved the cold air intakes.
A bike similar to this with about 5K miles sold for $16,000 on BaT in March of 2022, and then one with just over 6K miles sold for $18,500 in July.
To sum up, it looks cool, you don’t see very many of them and its fun to ride.

I’m an OG and these bike totally speak to me. Could not afford one when I was 15 and still can’t it seems. That ok because where i live there are no worthy roads and I could not bring myself to track such a nice example.
With that said, the grenn hugger/chain guard must go. Paint it black or do it in carbon. Either would restore the aesthetic balance. The green draws attention to the fact the shape of the functional part is not in harmony with the rest of the bodiwork design. So mute it with a contrasting dark color looks best to my eye. Opinions will vary.
Admirer not a buyer, unfortunately. What a sexy machine l saw the last of these bikes in wsbk. The venue was Phillip Island and these bikes were screaming their guts out but just didn’t have the top end of the 1000CC v-twins. But just the noise they produced made me an admirer ever since. What a motorcycle, awesome!
