Here at RSBFS, the first edition Suzuki GSX-R’s are something we like very much. We have posted both the 750 and 1100 editions previously so rather than rehash what we have previously posted, I am just going to post the pics along with some basic info from the auctions and let readers enjoy/comment.

1989 GSX-R1100 for sale on ebay
Here is the first one, a first edition Suzuki GSX-R1100 in truly amazing pristine condition. I think this might be the most pristine one I have seen posted here on RSBFS.
Mileage is listed as under 10,000 miles and location is Wisconsin in the USA. Current bid price is $6,000 USD.
1986 GSXR limited (located to tbd)
Here is the second one, a Suzuki 1986 750 limited edition with 11,000 miles/18,000 kilometers.
The LE came with an upgraded dry clutch, 1100 model derived suspension and were produced for homologation purposes in very limited numbers. This particular one looks to be in very good but not perfect condition, with issues including minor bodywork scuffing on some pics on the ebay advert and a chain that looks like it should be replaced. The windscreen may also be aftermarket.
Asking price for this is a bit high but I am not an expert on the value of the 1st edition Limited Editions. One thing to note is that location is a bit unclear between New Zealand or the USA.
1987 GSX-750R on ebay US (New Jersey)
Here is the 3rd one, a supposed “barn find” 1987 GSX-750R.
This one has almost 16,000 miles and an asking price of $6,500 USD. I do see an aftermarket exhaust mounted, although pics of the original is included so its probably included.
One other thing that I did notice is that the fairings look different from the pictures I have seen of the 1986-1987 Suzuki GSXR 750 series bodywork but I am not enough of an expert to tell if this is aftermarket bodywork…perhaps someone will enlighten us in the comments section of this post. Otherwise the bike looks incredibly clean.
If you have been looking for a 1st edition gsxr/”slabbie” for your collection, seems like this might be a good chance.

For what it’s worth, the listing states that the ’86 GSXR 750 LE is in Auckland, New Zealand.
And also for what it’s worth, I’d give my first-born male child, either kidney, and/or (almost) any other body part for one of these..
But lacking in restraint as well as money, it ain’t gonna happen.
Dammit!
TBH, the 1100 is the only one that looks good IMO.
The LE is priced waaaaay too high. We currently have one for sale in Aus for less then that which has half as many km’s and is in twice as good condition. For that sort of money I’d want museum quality.
I bought a 1986 750 that had sat for years and after cleaning out the tank for two weeks it then had a small leak. If allowed to sit with old fuel their tanks can rust from the inside out.
if the limited was already in the US, it would be worth approximately $7500-$8500 in its current condition. JDM models get a little higher premium here.
Guys the company out of NZ with the limited it way off the mark, as stated above there are a few pristine LE’s that have been offered in Australia that have failed to make $11,000AUD I struggled to get anyone here to $10.5k for my Blue red and white LE so I kept it and just bought another one instead. Both 1100 bikes are worth it and it will be intresting to see where the ’86 ends up. Best of luck to all sellers but you will have to meet the current market or keep them, thats sadly reality.
The red one is pictured sitting outside Spectrum in Japan.
It is sad to see a sub par bike with just a shinny paint job pull in that kind of dough. I feel that whom ever buys it is getting taken advantage of… I am all for buyer beware but why these bidders slash buyers don’t do there homework and buy a sub-quality bike is beyond me, and it doesn’t sit right with me… That is a lot of money for a bike that looks good but is not correct or should I just say too much for what is represented. I shouldn’t complain as I love when the values are on the rise. I just feel that these so called collectors should higher someone who knows what they are looking at or do there due diligence… There was a time when you had quality reviews from knowledgable people from this site… Now it is just people posting who know very little if anything about the bikes they are posting. I miss the detailed write ups from some of the original crew like Doug. He used to tell you some about the history of the bike why he felt it was appropriate to post and what was good bad about the model and the bike posted. Now it just seems they post anything and they don’t even get the years correct let alone know what they are looking at. Time for change Dan… Get back into it and dig in, and get it back on track… remember what made this site great… tell the story of the bike and the ones posted good bad or ugly… Tell the people what is stock not stock, what looks hokey or correct. The knowledge of the guys on this site is great. They will help out correct, hopefully all the while being respectful and without confrontation..(some of you are just downright rude) LOL you know who you are. Lets help our fellow collector community get it right and keep the guys that are selling lipstick on a pig from taking advantage of them.
Thanks for reading… Wow what a rant… time for a nap
