The Honda CBR600F2 isn’t close to being a rare bike from a production standpoint-Honda sold over 50,000 600cc motorcycles from 1987-1993. While the 600cc sportbike market segment pretty much came into being with the original CBR600 F1/”Jelly mold” it was the F2 that made a lot of people consider the 600cc sportbike class as an actual daily use bike.
1992 Honda CBRF2 for sale on ebay
The F2 was produced in large numbers but there was a good reason for this; it was a truly great bike, and both reviewers and riders spread the word about it. Anyone who was actively into sportbikes prior to 2000 can probably recall the 600cc Honda’s reputation, how from 1991-1998 the Honda CBR600F2 and follow up F3 seemed to be the winner of every 600cc magazine shootout.
The F2 was typical Honda of the 1990’s; it came close to matching or exceeded each major competitors strengths (Kawasaki=engine, Yamaha=handling, Suzuki=price) all in a single package. The F2 engine gave riders a wide usable powerband and good top-end power, leading the 600cc class with 85 horsepower and quarter-mile times of 11.3 seconds at 120 mph. And it was not only the quickest and fastest bike in the 600cc class, it still delivered 42 mpg, stopped on a dime, handled like a dream, braked superbly, etc, etc.
A very good history of the F2 (and following F3) can be read here.
Like most Hondas of the 1990’s, the F2 was basically bulletproof; only a few issues were known to plague them (cam chain tensioner and voltage regulator seem to be the most common). This particular F2 looks to be amazingly clean and completely OEM , However it does have a fair number of miles at 18,000.
Here is what the seller has to say;
- 3 owner 1992 F2, all stock and original right down to the California emissions equipment and exhaust.
- In the last 100 miles the bike has received a full going over, carbs have been pulled, cleaned and synced
- Fresh 50/50 coolant, new brake fluid front and rear. Oil/filter, newer battery,
- Valves were inspected and adjusted at 12,000 miles.
- Warning stickers are all intact, gauges are immaculate, switchgear and original keys in great shape.
- Tool kit and owners manual under seat.
- Some slight wear on the top triple but that is easily sorted out…tiny bit of rash on the left engine cover from the first owner, also a small scratch on the left side tail cowl. The bodywork is all original and shows some small wear in a few other areas but by and large is in incredible condition for the age.
Is this F2 worth the Buy-It Now asking price of $6,000 USD? Well I did a little browsing through ebay history and recent ebay prices seem to be more around $2,400 USD. I know this bike has had recent service (excluding rubber) and looks to be in excellent condition but mileage is probably too high to catch the attention of collectors interested in pristine machines. I would guess a price between $2,700-$3,050 would take this one home.
While the Honda 600cc F2 isn’t as sharply focused as modern 600cc machines and the graphics are a bit 1990’s, this could be good as a daily rider while something more exotic sits in the garage for the weekend. Of course it could also be a fairly cheap way to relive a bit of your youth too…

bit 90s ? I prefer the term “classic”
How delightfully 90’s – that bike is ONLY allowed to be ridden at dusk, and directly into the sunset
