Every time I see a VFR1000R I think of our friend Bruce in Colorado. He’s got a stable full of these and we usually get to meet up at the Indy MotoGP round. This example probably isn’t quite as perfect as his, but it is still remarkably well preserved. And the seller has documented the cosmetic flaws which I’d call minor consider it’s age. What most people seem to comment on when these land on the pages of RSBFS is the sheer size and weight of these bikes. But owners are quick to point out how revolutionary these were during their day and what a great value they are. This one has 6 days remaining and is currently at $3300 reserve not met. Aside from the few blems shown in pictures, the ad states the bike has been on display since 2005, so expect some refreshing before she’s ready for the road.

1985 Honda VF1000R For Sale on eBay
quote from seller’s listing:
The Honda V4 line’s flagship model, at least in its pedigree, was the Honda VF1000R. Derived from Honda’s AMA Formula 1-winning FWS1000 race bike, the R used the FWS’s gear-driven camshaft arrangement.
The main differences from the F model were inside the engine: compression ratio was up from 10:1 to 10.7:1; more radical cams with longer exhaust duration; and a train of nine gears to drive the camshafts, replacing the central chain drive used on the other V4s. Effectively, the Honda VF1000R was a homologation special, built, initially at least, to qualify the bike for production racing.
This example has only 17,223 km on the clock and but for a few touched-up blemishes on the leading edge of the faring and front fender (right side), it looks like a new machine. The current owner acquired it almost 10 years ago and gave it a few outings before decommissioning it for display in his collection in 2005.
I have 6 of these wonderful bikes . They may not have been the best in their category but as mentioned they were revolutionary in their day and the early homologation specials that trickled down into what the RC30s and 45s became . Though paper weight heavy once underway you would be surprised at how flick-able they really are especially with their 16 inch front wheel . I also love a good survivors’ tale .
I’ve purchased several bikes out of this collection. great guy to work with and the bikes are always as advertised.
[…] the same seller as the VF1000R posted yesterday is this 83 CB1100R. This one is equally clean in presentation though it has also been on display […]
