Just North of the Border, Eh
This bright green beauty hailing from Canada caught our attention.
When I searched it up on RSBFS we have shown a few of these over the years, and back in 2010 Alex stated, “Like many of the bikes on RSBFS, the RR was designed to compete in national (AMA) events and World SuperSport championships. I see it being one of the future collectible Kawasaki’s especially as examples like these become increasingly rarer. This was the first 600cc sport bike to feature USD forks…”
Now in 2024, this Ninja has arrived.
This bike has 961 miles/1548km – and from the few photos posted, it looks pretty good. If this is the bike you want for your collection, it seems worth investigating.
Bidding is at $4,999 with 4 days left, ending on Sunday.
Seller of few words
Has a few garage bruises, but 100% original down the the “K” wheel weights.
I am in Canada, about 20 minutes to the US border at Lewiston NY
Phil West gives a review of the bike on Bike Social
“The 2003-2004 Kawasaki ZX-6RR (or ZX-6RR K1 to give it its full designation) is the 600cc, racing homologation version of the Japanese firm’s already radical and extreme 636cc ZX-6R B1H and as such is a rare, extremely track-focussed and fairly exotic machine. That said, it’s not actually as fast and powerful as its larger capacity brother nor as exotic as, say, Ducati’s SP versions of its superbikes. In addition, few made it into the UK, most of those ended up on track and fewer still survive as road bikes today. Find one, though, and they’re about as exclusive, race-orientated and sweet handling as Japanese supersports bikes get and can be reasonable money, too.”
I have seen the word “rare” and “exotic” thrown around a few times while reading different reviews. This model is track focused and it was not appreciated by road riders when it came out, but now because of its rarity it has become a desired collectable.
If you have ridden one of these, would love to hear your thoughts.
Good luck to the buyer and seller!

I don’t know why “the wet look” bothers me so much. Is it really that much trouble to dry the machine off before the seller takes pics? Do they think the beaded water looks better? Can’t we just take normal photos? Seems to be a nice bike from what I can tell though. Probably not many of these left that are this unmolested.
A neighbour picked one of these up when new, and we went for a ride together, me with my GSX-R. I thought the RR was going to be much quicker, but it still impressed me with its level of equipment.
Yes, these do get my attention especially as I have never seen one. Love they gave them this paint to set them apart. A nice spec with the slipper clutch.
This isn’t the first 600 with USD forks by about a decade. That goes to the (underpowered) GSXR600 in the early 90s, Itself a sleaved down gsxr750 that everyone notice had everything but its curb weight matched to its powerplant.
@ Michael J – Those Gixxers seem to have it all, lol.
