2002 Moto Guzzi V11 Le Mans Tenni with 1,204 miles !

Commemorating Omobono Tenni, a Guzzi racer who gave the factory many victories in the 1933-48 era ( and died in a crash during GP practice ), the Le Mans Tenni is a brilliant and subtle styling exercise using the recent V11 base.  This Tenni is badged number 114 of 170, and has been preserved with only first-oil-change miles.

Helped by Aprilia’s development lire, the V11 used the venerable air-cooled V-twin which reported 91 hp and nearly 70 ft.-lbs. torque.  Signature shaft drive is helped by a torque arm, and Marelli fuel injection makes starting and running easy.  Top components from Öhlins and Brembo, and improvements like the hydraulic clutch and oil cooler bring the big machine into the 21st century.

Owned by an Illinois collector, this Tenni is dead stock and almost unused.  The suede seat was a fair-weather option and a vinyl seat is also included.  Just a few dings on the seat fairing detract, but should correctable.  From the eBay auction:

Original owner of a rare, low mileage, unmolested Moto Guzzi LeMans Tenni, number 114 of 170 worldwide.  I purchased this motorcycle new in December 2003 from Motorsports Inc. in Wichita, KS.  I have kept the bike in a climate controlled space, and have not performed any alterations whatsoever to the engine or body.  Periodic cleaning, oil changes, and engine starting, with a occasional ride around the block!  Hence the very low miles.  Bike comes with an original Tenni sales brochure, owners manual, shop manual, parts manual, two keys, tool kit, MG bike cover, extra gasket set, and two seats (black vinyl and brown suede).

With weight approaching 550 lbs. wet, the V11 quickly becomes a lot of work to push quickly.  More suited to less twisty bits, the rock solid handling inspires confidence, and great torque makes for a fun ride.  The V11 has a mature powertrain, and the Tenni has premium appointments and an attractive take on racing green.  For a Guzzi fan, it’s a very low-mile example, 1 of 170 total of a single-year commemorative, with the late Le Mans half fairing, a modern and nice-riding machine to boot…

Set the way-back machine for 1975 and attend EICMA (Esposizione Internazionale Ciclo Motociclo e Accessori) in Milan, there you’ll see the original bikini-faired Moto Guzzi 850 Le Mans, the iconic basis for the long line of Le Mans-badged machines.  The torquey long-wheelbase heavyweights were ( and are ) the cornerstone of Guzzi’s line-up.

The Racing Red model is part of the V11 series, the most recent to wear the LeMans name, and was produced until 2006.  Before that the 850 Le Mans went through three updates from 1976 – 84, and then the 1000 Le Mans was built until 1991.  All have been based on the 45-degree pushrod V-twin, pushing a single-plate dry clutch and shaft drive, the V11 displacing 1064cc and worthy of 91 hp.

Outstanding components set the more recent Guzzi’s apart, Marelli ignition and injection, Ohlins forks and monoshock, Brembo brakes, La Francona exhaust.  All are a little bigger than you might expect but make sense for the long, heavy machine.  The handlebar fairing has grown into the upper part of a sportbike fairing, and complementary monoposto cover reveals a pillion seat.  Exotic red anodized valve covers and frame connectors work well with the fade-out checkered flag paint scheme.

This particular Rosso Corse is basically new, with not even break-in miles.  Hard to pick up any deficiencies in the pictures.  From the eBay auction:

2003 Moto Guzzi V11 Le Mans Rosso Corse  767 miles. Ohlins suspension. Limited production collector quality big twin. Bike was traded to Pro Italia on a new Moto Guzzi. No stories, it’s near perfect. Anodized red parts are unfaded. Our shop only needed to fit a fresh battery to make ready for sale.

More of an exclusive cafe’ racer than full-on sportbike, the V11 still handles well, shading toward stability more than maneuverability.  Likely to be the only Guzzi and almost certainly the only V11 on your next Sunday ride…

The V11 Le Mans is a great bike in it’s own right, but this Tenni limited edition raised the bar a bit higher still. It’s mostly a great tribute bike cosmetically but does include upgraded lightweight clutch, titanium Marzocchi front fork, and the lovely suede seat. Not to mention the sweet color scheme!

2002 Moto Guzzi V11 Lemans TENNI Edition- Only 170 of these bikes made world wide and this is #133.

This is a 2 owner bike. I purchased it 2-3 years ago from the original adult owner who took great care of the bike. He purchased it new at his local dealer and I have all of the paperwork on its original sale. He also had numerous upgrades and warranty work done on the bike including:

  • Fast by Ferracci Carbon Fiber pipes(I have since taken the FBF decals off the mufflers as I like the look better)
  • Fast by Ferracci cross over x-pipe
  • Fast by Ferracci piston upgrade
  • Updated Ducati 748-916 voltage regulator
  • Smaller more modern LED blinkers front & rear
  • BMW type outlet mounted under seat for heated gear and electronics

Warranty work: (have most of the receipts)

  • Gas Tank Replaced
  • Engine Paint redone where paint bubbling occurred, it looks great
  • Replaced Timing Cover Gasket
  • Spark plugs, Valve Cover gaskets, cover gasket

Oil changes and services done by dealer as scheduled, 12000 mile service done, brake pads are great and Bridgestone Battle Axe tires have lots of life left. Everything worked perfectly on this bike when I purchased it and it still does. The looks are great and the sound is amazing. Ride all day comfort for me and I love the shaft drive.

Since I purchased it I have added:

  • New slightly longer Buell mirrors
  • Red CRG adjustable clutch and brake levers
  • New Gel Batter spring 2012

Paperwork:

  • Original TENNI Edition brochure, and owner certificate from dealer
  • Owners Manual,
  • Original sale paperwork from dealership
  • Some warranty and service receipts

Extras:

Sale includes both the suede seat and the black one, both seats also have the matching eye brow the mounds on the rear seat cover.  Laminar Lip that significantly helps with airflow over the rider, very easy to put on and take off. Also includes a soft tank bag that came with the bike, I believe all of the mounting hardware is there, but I am not 100%. Over all condition of this bike is very good. There is a small crack at the top of the windshield and a small crack in the paint at the lower left hand side of the tank. These were both there when I purchased it and are minor, see photos.
