Good morning guys!

Here are the latest reader rides and suggestions, and it’s a packed day to say the least! My apologies to those who were missed and good luck to those still available.

Anyone score any new rides or gear for Father’s Day? Drop a comment and tell us about it!

dc

Let’s kick things off with this Honda CBR400RR Joey Dunlop tribute bike spotted by Jeremy. Located in San Francisco for $6500.

Mark spotted this unusual Suzuki RG400 available in Toronto for $8900 CAD. The seller is a dealer who states they can export to the U.S.

This 1985 Yamaha FZ750 custom cafe is being offered from Noel. Normally I’d post this on one of our sister sites, but since he’s thrown in some free advertising for us on his listing you check it out. Opening bid is $2500 reserve not met and it’s located in Minnesota.

Jay W. has been loving our GSX-R 1100 posts and sent us this listing for a 1986 Suzuki GSX-R. With about a day to go it’s at $3k reserve not met and has 21k miles.

Here’s another submission from Mark, a sweetheart 1985 Suzuki RG500 in Toronto for $9000 CAD.

Joel emails us his gorgeous 1986 Suzuki GSX-R 750 survivor. With a bit over 7k miles he’s asking $6200 in Detroit. Good luck with the sale!

Eric emails us this sweet spot, a 1987 Yamaha FZR1000. This is a really sharp looking ride and appears mostly original for just $4500 in Bakersfield, California. As a bonus, the seller is throwing in a parts bike!

Shaun emails us his 1992 Ducati 851 with just 11k miles in Dallas, Texas. Good luck with the sale!

Finally Tony sends us this RZ350 he spotted on San Francisco Craigslist for $6500. Just 5k miles from an older rider according to the seller.

Clean ’84 Yamaha Kenny Roberts RZ350

Location: Cayce, South Carolina

Mileage: 17,850

Auction: $6,950 BIN

These RZ350’s keep popping up for sale and getting written up here on RSBFS. There’s a good reason for that of course. Not only is the RZ350 an actual fully legal two stroke street bike in the U.S., it’s also part of U.S. sportbike history, being connected to one of the greatest motorcycle racers in American history. Of course, I’m speaking of Kenny Roberts. A legend for sure. So this bike really has a lot going for it. And, frankly, to get what this seller wants for it, it needs a lot going for it.

Here’s what the seller says-

1984 YAMAHA RZ 350 .

SERVICE AND MAINTANCE UP TO DATE

NEW TOP END ,CLUTCH, ALL SEALS,CARBS CLEANED AND ADJUSTED. LESS THEN 4000 MILES AGO. BIKE IS TIGHT:)

Miles of 17,850 do not reflect rebuild at 4000 miles ago. and over the last 3 yrs all the work done , seals, bearings , chain and sprockets, rubber prouducts tires, etc

FACTORY PIPES AND K&N FILTER.

BIKE IS SUPER CLEAN, NO DINGS OR DENTS OR RUST.

ADULT OWNED AND MAINTAINED.

ALWAYS KEPT INDOORS!! NO RAIN EVER!!

PRE-MIX. 32-1 and I will include the 5 gallon Pre Mix Bottle

THIS IT TRULY A GREAT EXAMPLE OF AN YAMAHA RZ350 AND THEY ARE GETTING HARDER TO FIND IN THIS CONDITION.

And all the pics-

Threw in a photo of King Kenny, just so you know what he looks like.

So this thing looks to be in great original condition. The seller highlights all of the recent maintenance work that hopefully has this machine in top running condition. The rebuild work will help take care of concerns over the mileage. Everything else looks good.

The only other issue out there is the price. The seller is looking for what would have to be considered top dollar for this bike. Yes, they are rare and hard to find in good condition. And there’s a good bet that they’ll continue to increase in value. But the question is: How much will you pay right now. Today.

Well, you have to decide. But you should entertain the fantasy at least, and check this bike out!

Collector Alert! Yamaha RZ350 with Only 561 Miles up for Grabs!

Location: Marysville, Washington

Mileage: 561. Seriously.

Price: $9,900

If you’re putting together your dream collection of historic sportbikes, or a stellar Yamaha collection, or a Kenny Roberts museum, then you need to look at this bike. Here you have the opportunity to own a true collector’s bike. All original except for the battery (understandable) and only 561 original miles – this is something special.

The bike is listed on Seattle Craigslist. Here’s what the seller has to say-

This motorcycle is a RZ350 NC Kenny Roberts Signature Edition. It only has 561 miles on it!. Everything is original, except for the battery. I am the second owner and have had it for five years. I have ridden it only a few miles while I have owned it. Everything is in good running condition. Motor compression is great, all electronics work. Carbs have been gone thru and all fluids have been changed gas tank is rust free. The brakes are in good shape too.

Call or email me for more information. I can send more photos if you need. If you are looking for a bike to put in your living room this is the one!

And more pics for you-

I’m sure most everyone who follow RSBFS knows that a legal two stroke bike in the U.S. is as uncommon as it gets. These bikes were only imported for ’84-’86, making their numbers here even smaller. And finding one with mileage as low as this and as original makes those numbers even smaller still.

So if you’re a collector and have been looking for the right RZ350, you may have found it in this one. There’s not much to say for this bike. It speaks for itself. The seller is asking a serious price, but then again, when you have something like this, prices can certainly climb.

If it’s time to start or add to your collection, go check this listing out!

Low Mile, Original ’90 Yamaha RZ350 Up North

Location: Calgary, Alberta, Oh Canada

Mileage: 3,946 (6352 Km)

Price: Auction, $6,000 BIN

I’m guessing most readers here at RSBFS know the Yamaha RZ350, specifically the Kenny Roberts edition, as it was actually imported into the US for a brief time. Folks in the US know the issues with two strokes and how rare they are here, but not so everywhere else. So the RZ350 is a common bike for the rest of the world, along with many other killer two strokes that were never brought to the States. Here’s a 1990 model, a version built well after they stopped bringing them to the States in ’87.

From the seller-

THIS IS THE REAL DEAL ! I AM SELLING MY 1990 RZ 350 THAT IS ALL YAMAHA ORIGINAL !!!  9 OUT OF 10 !SERIOUSLY IT STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL FRONT TIRE. THIS IS THE LAST YEAR THIS SMOKEN 2 STROKER WAS AVAILIABLE & I HAVENT SEEN ANOTHER IN THIS SHAPE OR WITH THIS LOW OF KILOMETERS(6352) IN QUITE A FEW YEARS . IT HAS A FEW MINOR SCRATCHES  IN CLOSE UP PIC OF RIGHT SIDE FAIRING(CANT BE SEEN FROM 3 FEET AWAY)  WAS LIKE THAT WHEN I BOUGHT IT . CANADIAN BLUE SPECIAL EDITION. THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO OWN A COLLECTORS BIKE . JUST HAD IT IN TO OUR YAMAHA SHOP FOR A NEW REAR TIRE , CARBS CLEANED,STERRING STEM BEARRINGS,WHEEL  BEARRINGS , FORKSEALS & ALL FLUIDS CHANGED TO BE 100% RUNS LIKE NEW NEVER REBUILT. YOU PROBABLY WILL NEVER FIND ANOTHER  DEAL LIKE THIS AGAIN THAT WASNT STORED AWAY IN A CRATE . SO DONT MISS OUT . RIGHT TO END AUCTION  WILL BE LISTED LOCALY ALSO

Photos for you-

This does look to be a clean version for a 1990. Seller lists it as all original and no aftermarket or replaced parts stand out. The bike does have some scratches and minor blemishes but looks to be in pretty good shape. The seller mentions recent maintenance and the mileage is low. You’ll want to make sure that it does run well as bikes that have sat around can have their own special issues.

The seller is asking $6,000 BIN. That’s somewhere in the ballpark for a low mileage ride like this. Auction starts for less so you may be able to work out a deal.

Whatever the case, if you want a cool two stroke, this may be your chance. So go check this auction out.

1984 Yamaha RZ350 with Just 1391 Miles!

Update 2.18.2012: Back on eBay due to dead beat bidder… Links updated. -dc

Update 2.3.2012: Originally listed in October 2011, this RZ350 is back on the market and now on eBay. Links updated. -dc

Our latest feature listing is for this incredible time capsule Yamaha RZ350 showing just 1391 miles! The RZ350 is one of the most popular bikes on our site and this one looks like a great opportunity.

From the seller:

This is my 1984 RZ350, This is probably the cleanest RZ350 you will ever see unless you can find one still in the crate. The bike only has 1391 original miles on it, the bike is pristine, 100% flawless and is bone stock with exception of the DG chambers and jet kit and K&N filter in the original air box. The bike has never seen rain, nor has it ever been dropped. i usually put one mile a month on it just to keep all the seals wet and put new gas in it every three months or so. i just retired and am moving to medellin colombia and cannot take the bike with me due to strict importation laws in colombia. the bike is located in alachua florida, the bike can be picked up here or will help your shipper load the bike for you. price 6900.00 dollars

What can be said that we haven’t said before about these great 2 stroke machines?! Here are some excerpts from previous previously listed RZ350’s on our site:

  • Yamaha Power Valve Systems worked as well as any back in the day and if memory serves me correctly the little RZ sported about 45hp. I know 45 ponies doesn’t do much for today’s sport bike rider, but you couple that with less than adequate 18? bologna rind tires and you’ve got a lot to handle.
  • […]with roughly 52 ponies of two-stroke power and weighing in at 370lbs, I suspect it’s a blast.
  • These little bikes are lightweight, offer nimble handling, have decent power, and make all the right noises. Unleash your inner hooligan and cover your tracks with a fog bank of blue smoke!
  • As described in previous RSBFS posts, RZ350s are fun little strokers that are getting harder to find.
  • [a great] opportunity to grab that elusive 2-stroke that you might have missed in the showroom back in the 80’s. Although these bikes are not as rare as some of the hand-built Italian hardware we occasionally see on RSBFS, finding a good example of a survivor is difficult.

You get the idea — there is a reason these are so desirable and collectable!

Good luck to the seller though I doubt it will be difficult to move an example this perfect!

Unmolested Original: 1984 Yamaha RZ350

For Sale: 1984 Yamaha RZ350

Condition: All original

Mileage: 4,300 miles

Price: $7,000

The Yamaha RZ350 is one of the most popular bikes on our site, and it is simple to see why: The last of the legal two strokes, the RZ350 makes all the right noises while really looking the part; the livery evokes memories of King Kenny Roberts, right down to his signature on the fairing. With the YPVS valve in the exhaust port, the RZ350 was the most tractable two stroke of the day, and performance was on par with the current crop of 550cc fours.

The RZ was a two year only bike in the U.S., and Yamaha did not move many units. Fast forward nearly 30 years and the RZ has become more desirable and more rare – especially in this kind of condition. It is not often that we find a completely stock RZ350, right down to the original exhaust (with the innovative catalytic converters). This bike is so stock that it still has all of the original reflectors hanging off of it!

With very low miles (4,300), this bike has travelled approximately 150 miles for each year it has been on the road. This is what really makes this an interesting collectable: it has few enough miles to be nearly new, yet enough miles to encourage the occasional ride. With the value of these machines on a continual rise, this is an investment that you can enjoy for years to come.

From the seller:
On a 1-10 scale this bike is an 8.5. I am the second owner and have had it since it had 500 miles on it. The bike has never been wrecked or dropped to my knowledge and the engine and transmission have never been into, it runs and rides great. The bike is mostly all original and even still has the catalytic converters on it. The bike has been maintained by me and the local Yamaha dealer. There has been some minor touch up done to the paint. 1 smaller than a dime spot on the right side of the tank (very small spot and then tank was recleared). A couple of small touch ups on the bars, brake fluid reservoir and on right side engine cover. I am a very meticulous person and have kept this bike in near perfect condition. I am asking $7000.00 for this bike. I have more pictures on request.

With an emerging collectable such as this, prices are still relatively sane. The seller has shared good detail about the machine, and is willing to share more with interested parties. Here is a chance to own an all original RZ for a fair market price. Given that nearly all the RZs we see have had some modifications, this particular bike is a pretty incredible find.
