2006 Yamaha YZF-R1 Limited Edition With Less Than 100 Original Miles

This is another R1 Limited Edition with insanely low miles!  Located in Mission Viejo, California is a 2006 Yamaha YZF-R1 Limited Edition with less than 100 original miles.  For condition the seller states “Never been washed or exposed to the sun. It’s been under a cover in my garage since new.”  That’s a bit of an embellishment as it is in the sun for the pictures but that’s nit-picking!  I don’t doubt this bike is in fantastic condition as it has only had to fend off lawn mowers and old furniture in it’s short life.  The asking price is $13,500.  The price is high but it isn’t completely outrageous as the other LE’s we’ve seen were listed for $11,995 and $12,995 respectively.  These bikes are amazing performers and come outfitted from the factory better than any other production R1 that we’ve seen in the U.S.  See this shining example on Craigslist here.

2000 Yamaha Blue R1 with only 759 miles!

2000 Yamaha R1 with only 759 actual miles and of course it’s a one owner.

Yup, I’ve lost my mind again, but this time I received approval from the Boss man so I might have a little sanity still rolling around upstairs. Although R1’s aren’t rare by any stretch this particular one does fall in to the “rare survivor” category for I know Alex and I have posted a few R1 LE’s, but I can’t recall anyone ever posting a plane jane R1 on RSBFS.

I remember back in 1998 I was in the mood to upgrade from my then 1996 F3 and I was looking for the latest greatest thing. I wanted to buy a red and white R1, but they were fetching a premium at the time while Kawasaki had just broken the 10 second quarter mile barrier with the ZX 9R. Kent K (I’m not even going to try and spell it) from Sport Rider sold me on the 9R so off I went to the Kawi store leaving behind my dream of owning a red and white R1. Of course I kick myself to this day for not waiting on the R1 to come in, but I guess we all long for the one that never was.

This particular R1 has averaged less than 80 miles per year so I would have to believe it is due for a new set of skins and some fluid changes. But, after a few hundred bucks you’d have a sweet ride and have something to be proud of without cutting loose of a lot of chips. Heck, what am I talking about… this thing isn’t broken in yet!

Take a look:

Quotes from the seller:

I have for sale a One Owner, Garage Kept, Mint Condition, never dropped or laid down in any way, 2000 Yamaha YFZ-R1 with 759 actual miles! That less than 80 miles a year! Now that is what I call low miles!. This bike looks, Drives and runs like brand new! If you want the best, here it is.

So I’m going to guess that this baby will still hang with most newer bikes and will run you about half as much as a new liter bike at $5,950.00. Because for all practical purposes this is still a new machine.

I like it and would love to see in person just for the memories of the one that got away.

You can check it out on the Louisville, KY Craigslist here.

Reader Submissions of the Week Past Two Weeks!

I’m going to have to figure out a new system for reader submissions with so many great finds hitting my inbox! I’ve started this posts twice already and haven’t been able to finish it!

First my apologies to those who sent auction items that have since passed. We really appreciate your submissions and always try hard to get them listed, but the entire RSBFS team has been swamped with real world job duties.

But enough of that, on to the bikes that are still available that have been sent in by readers.

Jim M. has sent in two bikes, and they’re both delicious in two very different ways. First is this . It has a supercharged Harley V-Rod engine!

His second submission is this very cool :

Andrew sent me this Ducati 999R for sale in Florida:

Will sent me this really well prepared FZR400 track bike:

Left Front

Finally, Mike L. forwarded this beaut on: It’s Aaron Gobert’s Formula Extreme Championship bike from 2002-2003 fitted with an R1 motor and CA title!

Graves FX left sideGraves FX right side

Many, many thanks to the readers who have picked up the slack while we’ve been away! I’ve got a couple more posts to crank out that I hope to have up soon: RS250, another great collection becomes available for sale, and the RSBFS Holiday store opens Wednesday night. Stay tuned!

2006 Yamaha R1 Limited Edition–Still in the crate

Again, I know R1s aren’t rare but, the LEs are and this one is still in the crate.  Located in Cedar Hills, Oregon is a 2006 Yamaha R1 Limited Edition in unused condition.  To quote the seller:

I have a 2006 Yamaha YZF-R1 Limited Edition for sale. This is one of only 500 ever produced, and still in the original crate at my warehouse. It’s in pristine condition, has never turned a wheel except maybe after it rolled off the assembly line and into it’s shipping container.  This bike sold for $18,000 new, and I purchased it primarily as a collector’s item never intending to use it. A nice display piece for sure, but would be great for weekend rides, or track days for someone who wants one of the best all time sportbikes, unmatched for it’s speed, powerful engine and superb handling.  The bike is still in the crate, but I will be happy to assemble and service it for the new owner. I am a career Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Suzuki tech.  A factory service manual, owner’s manual, and Limited Edition R1 tool kit will be included with purchase.

The asking price is $12,995.  So, if you missed the Limited Editions around the first time or you’re a very serious collector, this might be the bike for you.  Sorry, no photos.  See the Craigslist ad here.
