1995 Aprilia RS250 Chesterfied Replica

If I drink enough beer tonight, I may convince myself to buy this. When I became interested in sportbikes years ago, this was one of the ones. One of the ones that you tell yourself in high school that you’ll buy someday when you have a real job as you serve fast food through a drive through window. Of course at that time, I still had hope Aprilia would wise up and bring the bike to the states. By the time they did, it was as a race only model.

I happened onto this one on eBayMotors. It’s a 1995 Aprilia RS250 for sale in Portland, Oregon:

quote from seller’s eBayMotors listing:

This is a titled, registered and fully street legal 95′ Aprilia RS250 Chesterfield Replica. We have owned it for several years now and have had lots of fun with it. Its a great bike to ride handles like a proper race bike should.

Our friend imported it from Europe about 8 years ago and registered it in New York but didn’t ride it enough to keep it. We shipped it out here to Portland Oregon and have enjoyed riding and playing with it ever sense.

The engine was completely rebuilt in 2006 (less than 800 miles ago) from the crank up using all OEM parts. All the cables have all been replaced as they have worn out and and its carbs and injection system have been tuned and synchronized . The bike is still using the original oil injection system which of coarse works perfectly. Arrow pipes have been polished and nickel plated. This bike has a only a couple of small expected cosmetic faults but its still in great shape and always starts on the first kick!

Oh man… I’m very tempted to get myself the best xmas present ever and buy this before the auction ends in a few hours. It’s even titled and street legal. It’s only a couple hours away and I’ve taken all of next week off… But I probably won’t though, so I’m posting it here in case someone else can snag it.

Well Maintained 1985 Yamaha RZ500 For Sale in Seattle

RZ500 fans rejoice, another RZ500 surfaces in the Pacific Northwest for sale! This RZ500 is on Craigslist for $8k:

quote from seller’s Craigslist post:

I wanted to keep the original “vintage” look while increasing the performance so here is what I have done.
Rebuilt top-end using stock OEM piston kits.(.25mm).
Replaced main crank brgs and all seals in engine.
Slightly modified/matched ports.
Machined cases/cylinders to accept larger RZ350 reed cages.
TDR one piece reed pedals..
Carbs have been bored to 27.5 mm.
Installed “Mad-Beaver” air filter kit(removing stock air-box).
Intalled “Jolly Motto” expansion chambers.
I have spent MANY hours re-jetting….it runs AWESOME!
Researched options first then installed ’93 Yamaha FZR600 frt.end/frt wheel(17×3.25)/r wheel(18×4)with “Race Tech” emmulator kit,Metzeler radials,HH pads,stainless lines(all parts were rebuilt/polished/powder coated,to the tune of $2400 before install)I chose the FZR stuff because it is a direct “bolt on” and you dont have to modify the oil-tank and plastics to clear the forks.VERY clean swap.
FZR speedo which is the perfect twin only is MPH instead of KMs.
Digital temp gauge.
Steering dampener.
New chain/sprockets.
I have only riden the bike about 5k miles since rebuilding everything.

This one has great detail to go with the listing and appears to be owned by tech who cared for his baby. Think it’s a good buy?

A Pair of Classic Yamaha Two-Strokes For Sale: Yamaha RZ350’s

Many of the readers coming to this blog are looking for the Yamaha RZ500, and while I haven’t found one of those today, I have found two RZ350’s for sale here in the Pacific Northwest.

Mikuni 34mm carbs, custom billet intake with internal equalizer passage, pod airfilters, oversized reed cages and 4 petal reeds.

Fox clicker rear shock with remote reservoir
Re sprung front fork
Steel braided brake lines

1984 Yamaha RZ350 For Sale on Craigslist Portland

quote from seller’s Portland Craigslist ad $3600:

the bike comes with a slew of extras.
* original 80’s full fairing kit with sqaire headlight conversion.
* extra tank
* extra tail
* extra front fender
* EXTRA ENGINE!!!

The bike has larger 30mm carbs with clamp on style k&n’s. Allspeed pipes and silencers. new chain, sprockets, clutch, battery and brake pads.

this bike is oil injected so there is no worrys at the pump when it comes to premixing the fuel.

it has a adjustable steering stabilizer and a fork brace.

the bike has 28k but has had a recent top end to freshen things up.

Neither one of these are perfect beauty queens. But I like the full faired bodywork installed on the first one. And the second one offers a ton of spares plus full fairing bodywork pieces and a spare engine! And both are $4k or less! Seems like an affordable way into the classic bike market before these start going up in price – and a ton of fun to ride in the meantime!

2000 Aprilia RS250 For Sale: Titled and Low Miles!

Arguably the sexiest 250 2 stroke of it’s era, the Aprilia RS250 is at the top of my wish list at all times. This one looks like a good bet with less than 4k miles and a Washington title! Take a look at this 2000 Aprilia RS250 on Seattle Craigslist:

2000 Aprilia RS250 For Sale in Seattle2000 Aprilia RS250 For Sale Black2000 Aprilia RS250 For Sale with Arrow Carbon Fiber Pipes

quote from Craigslist ad:

2000 Aprilia RS250 street plated race bike, registered through April 2009. 3k miles runs and looks great, starts on first kick, as a matter of fact it starts so easily you can kick it over with your hand! Top speed of aprox 135mph, handles better than any other sport bike out there,2 stroke street bike weighs only 280lbs! Cruises on the freeway nicely. Has after market Arrow exhausts that increase power band. Some minor scuffs from transporting but excellent condition otherwise. Never been raced.
$8500

$8500 is a bit on the high side in my opinion, but if I could almost justify it, I’m sure someone else who actually has funds ready will snatch it up.

These two came up on Portland Craigslist. This first one has pretty low miles but the bodywork doesn’t look stock – and it’s been over since the pics were taken. But for $2k it’s worth a look for sure:
