There’s an original GSX-R Slingshot that comes out of hiding in my neighborhood once in a while. Every time I see it I’m impressed with how great this model looks. And it is so rare to see an original looking survivor. Since spotting this bike a few times, I’ve been on the prowl. These are not easy to find on the used market!
But here’s a great looking 1988 Suzuki GSX-R 750 ‘slingshot’ for sale in San Diego on Craigslist:
quote from seller’s Craigslist ad:
This bike is my baby, it is parked in my living room. I love this bike. I broke my back a few years ago on my dirt bike, it still hurts!
So it is time to sell, if you always liked the 88 GSXR, then you want this bike. It has never been downed. I’ve raced it, but never abused it. I have so much money wrapped up in this thing that I will never see, but it is okay because the time spent riding it was AMAZING. OK…Where do I start? Body and paint:PERFECT, no BS Motor out of 1991 GSXR 750. The chassis millage is 26,679 however all bearings are new. The motor & trani have 1,642 miles on them I broke it in at 5500 RPM for 500 miles. Weisco 7R7 Piston Kit. New bearings and gaskets. Pocket port work on head. Stock cams. Transmission: was sent out of state for gears to be under-cut and shimmed by R&D! “you can shift with your pinky toe” Forks off 1992 GSXR 750 “Inverted”. LG Valving Kit. Braided brake lines. Mikuni Flatslide carbs with Stage 3 Jetting just rebuilt 6/6/08. Yoshimura exhaust. OVER $7,000.00 in parts and labor
Any guy who stores the bike he loves in the house is okay by me! He’s asking $5k which demonstrates just how rare a clean example has become.
