Restored and Awesome ’88 GSX-R 750 Slingshot!

Location: San Jose, CA   Mileage: 29,360   Price: Auction

88 GSXR750

88 GSXR750

Oh man, here’s a real beauty up for sale in California. Being a huge GSX-R fan, this bike hits all the right marks. The “Slingshot” was an attempt by Suzuki to get some more power out of the engine by getting it a few more revs. Didn’t really do the trick but was still a killer bike then, just as it is today.

From the seller-

Here’s a chance to get one of the cleanest 88 GSXR’s you will ever find. This bike took three years to complete. Finding the NOS oem body panels took two years of world wide searching as most of the panels aren’t available anymore. All panels excluding the tank and upper are brand new old stock parts. Has factory original windscreen, turn signals and mirrors. The bike started out as a very nice 28K mile original bike. The bike was taken apart, cleaned, detail painted and reassembled with all factory correct hardware and to factory specs. All mechanicals such as brakes, suspension, carbs, etc were gone through. Mods are minimal and kept period correct such as a Fox Shock (rebuilt and has new spring). Yoshimura exhaust system ( media blasted and high heat painted). Factory 36mm carbs are Stage III jetted with new K&N Filters. Bike runs great. Brand new RK 530 chain with new front rear sprockets. Seat and bump pad are mint, look brand new. Brand new rear tire hugger and rear uncut fender. Michelin Pilot Power tires are in great shape. Only ridden 500 miles since restoration complete. Only a few small flaws in entire bike. See pics: One small chip in upper under mirror ( very hard to notice) and scratch in frame by rear set and one tiny chip in paint in front side of tank which can be touched up. That’s about it. This bike shows excellent, ride and enjoy or stash it away as an investment. Please contact me if you have any questions. I’m selling this bike for a friend but I helped build it so I know every detail. Will assist buyer with shipping but buyer pays all costs. Pickup preferred.

This GSX-R is described as completely restored to factory specs with NOS bodywork in a three year effort. It certainly looks great. The mileage is considerable but the seller says everything has been gone through and the bike runs well. Photos highlight a few small cosmetic issues. Otherwise, this thing looks like a nice, clean example of one hell of a sportbike.

If you’re looking for a great early GSX-R, or just a great early sportbike, this could be an outstanding opportunity for you. To place your bid, go to the auction!

Red and White Beauty!- ’89 GSX-R 750

Location: Collegeville, PA   Mileage: 17,080   Price: $4,200 BIN

89 GSXR750

 89 GSXR750

The GSX-R 750 is no stranger to RSBFS, and folks know that I will write up pretty much any I find that are now old and rare. That includes this red and white ’89. Many folks arguer over the best year and version of the 750, but I would take ’em all. The GSX-R 750’s importance to the sportbike world cannot be overstated and everyone should own one, at least once.

Here’s the seller’s info-

1989 GSXR 750 with 17,080 miles, survivor!!!

I purchased this bike several years back with intention to keeping in my collection.

Over the past year I installed new battery, cleaned the carbs and serviced the bike to keep it running, rode couple time every summer, this bike is mechanically completely stock, except for Yoshimura exhaust, K&N air filter, turn signal and few other minor items.

The bike still has all oem plastics and decals, keep in mind this is 24 years old so there is some cracked plastic, and recently, a dent on the tank next to the seat, (ouch..) but over all in good condition for it’s age, This is a desirable and very collectable bike!

Tires will need to be replaced soon.

Text (or call) me if you have any question

$250.00 Deposit Required at end of auction.

Cash or cashier’s check.

And pics-

This bike isn’t 100% stock or is it totally mint. It’s got some replaced parts and some cracks and dings that happen over a period of 24 years. It does look pretty good for its age and these bikes are rare as surviving this long is a miracle in itself. Mileage isn’t too bad either.

As I’ve said before, they ain’t making any more of these. If you can give it a good home, check the auction out!

All Purply and Graphic – ’93 GSX-R 750

Location: Haddonfield, New Jersey

Mileage: 11,092

Price: Auction, $2,500 Reserve

It would be hard to debate the importance of the GSX-R 750. It may be, more than any other bike, the most responsible for the sportbikes we see today. As heavy metal owes everything to Black Sabbath, so does the modern sportbike to the GSX-R 750. What can be debated, and I’m sure is all the time, is the aesthetics of various models over the years. This one is probably one of those debated bikes. For the record, I love all GSX-R’s. I think this bike is sick. I suspect many of you may not agree. But it is a product of its times. A reflection of history. And it’s super purply.

From the seller-

This auction is for a 1993 Suzuki GSX-R 750 (California model).

The bike looks and runs great and has been well taken care of.

If you’re looking for this specific bike, you will have a hard time finding one in better shape than this.

Lockhart Phillips blue windscreen.

Bodywork is all original and is in great shape.

The bike is kept covered in the garage on a battery tender when not in use.

The fuel is mixed with Sta-Bil when the bike is in storage for the winter, and mixed with Sea-Foam during riding season.

I have the original key and a few copies that come with the bike.

Polished frame (done by previous owner).

The previous owner also put an aftermarket exhaust on the bike, including headers and a Yoshimura muffler.

Here is a list of recent work done to the bike by me in the last few months:

Carbs removed, disassembled, and cleaned

Fuel tank filter cleaned

Oil and filter change

Coolant flush and refill using 50/50 antifreeze and distilled water mix

New thermostat

New fork seals

New front and back brake pads and brake fluid

New spark plugs

New K&N air filter

New headlight bulbs

New front and back turn signals

Reserve is set at $2,500. I will not ship the bike. Payment is cash only at time of pickup. Sorry, I will not end the auction early. No test rides without cash in hand.

And the pics-

Outside of the windscreen, exhaust and polished frame, this bike looks amazingly stock for a 19 year old bike. Especially since these bikes were modded to the hilt and then usually wrecked. Well, this one is still clean and the mileage isn’t even that bad. The current owner has put quite a bit of maintenance into the bike, so it should be ready to go.

And here’s the kicker. Reserve on the bike is $2,500. You got some extra cash and you can get a cool bike from the 90’s that will definitely turn heads with the bike crowd. It will also be fun to ride and look good in any bike collection. Graphics aside, this is what was built in the 90’s and people loved it. I know, I was there.

So if this bike speaks to you, go make your play!

Let’s kick things off with this Honda CBR400RR Joey Dunlop tribute bike spotted by Jeremy. Located in San Francisco for $6500.

Mark spotted this unusual Suzuki RG400 available in Toronto for $8900 CAD. The seller is a dealer who states they can export to the U.S.

This 1985 Yamaha FZ750 custom cafe is being offered from Noel. Normally I’d post this on one of our sister sites, but since he’s thrown in some free advertising for us on his listing you check it out. Opening bid is $2500 reserve not met and it’s located in Minnesota.

Jay W. has been loving our GSX-R 1100 posts and sent us this listing for a 1986 Suzuki GSX-R. With about a day to go it’s at $3k reserve not met and has 21k miles.

Here’s another submission from Mark, a sweetheart 1985 Suzuki RG500 in Toronto for $9000 CAD.

Joel emails us his gorgeous 1986 Suzuki GSX-R 750 survivor. With a bit over 7k miles he’s asking $6200 in Detroit. Good luck with the sale!

Eric emails us this sweet spot, a 1987 Yamaha FZR1000. This is a really sharp looking ride and appears mostly original for just $4500 in Bakersfield, California. As a bonus, the seller is throwing in a parts bike!

Shaun emails us his 1992 Ducati 851 with just 11k miles in Dallas, Texas. Good luck with the sale!

Finally Tony sends us this RZ350 he spotted on San Francisco Craigslist for $6500. Just 5k miles from an older rider according to the seller.
