2000 Aprilia RS250

Located in Locust Valley, New York is a track prepped 2000 Aprilia RS250.  This bike has Marchesini wheels, Arrow exhaust, and Attack rear sets.  The bike hasn’t been raced, only used for track days and does show some scratches from being down.  See the eBay ad here.

EDIT:  This bike failed to sell or receive any bids with a starting price of $4,500 on 07/08/09.

1998 Aprilia RS250

Located in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania is a quite nice 1998 Aprilia RS250 with 23,336 miles (!).  It would less surprising if it was actually 23k kilometers, but, this is apparently a well used RS250; the seller (A dealer) claims to have recently done a full motor and transmission rebuild.  Scratches on left side from going down (not mentioned at speed or if just dropped) but not shown in pictures and a crack under the headlight are the only claimed defects.  This bike is registered with an opening bid of $6,500 and no reserve.  I’d be interested to see this start at a lower opening bid to see how the miles reflect on the selling price.  See the eBay ad here

EDIT: This bike sold with one bid for $6,500 on 07/01/2009.

If you’re interested in a track only Aprilia, there is a 1996 Aprilia RS125 in Gaithersburg, Maryland.  This RS is in track condition, with different colored plastics and scars.  The bike will need to be gone through as the motor isn’t running correctly.  The motor does have some modifications and comes with a partial spares package.  The buy it now is $4,500 with a $2,000 opening bid and a reserve.  Also, check out the sellers Ferrari Mondial convertible in the background.  See the eBay ad here

EDIT: This bike received ten bids to the amount of $3,400 but didn’t meet reserve on 07/01/2009.

1997 Aprilia RS125

Located in San Francisco, California is an unregistered 1997 Aprilia RS125.  The seller doesn’t state much other than how he was able get a plate for street use–not an advisable route.  However, this bike looks quite clean and worth looking into.  Bike is advertised at $4000.  See the Craigslist ad here.

1995 Aprilia RS250

Located in Los Angeles, California is a titled 1995 Aprilia RS250 with 6,755kms or 4,197 miles.  Bike is currently registered Non-Op in California which is used to prevent the build up of registration fees if a bike isn’t being used, this bike should be easy to register once transferred to a new owner but as always, check first.  The asking price of $7000 sounds fair based on recent ads.  See the Craigslist ad here.

Aprilia RS250 Challenge Bike For Sale with Title

It’s been rumored that the Challenge bikes were a bit easier to title than the gray market imports. Here’s one in Cali for $8k on Craigslist:

Aprilia RS250 Challenge Bike For SaleAprilia RS250 Challenge Bike For SaleAprilia RS250 Challenge Bike For Sale

quote from seller’s listing:

999/2000 Aprilia RS250 California Reg. Street legal two Stroke
Its true a street legal version of the RS250! VERY CLEAN BIKE only 4300 miles. Come and get one of the best handling street bikes on the road and scream down the streets turning everybody’s head like a top.
WILL CONSIDER REASONABLE OFFERS. CASH TALKS

1999 and up “Challenge” models, which means they share the common 1998+ specification, which includes the following (which would differ from pre 1998 bikes):
• Showa 41mm usd forks with compression and rebound damping adjustment as well as spring preload adjustment.
• Suzuki RGV250 Gamma engine
• Suspension designed for the longer shock
• easily accessed oil injection tank and coolant overflow tank
• 3.5″ x 17 front wheel, can fit 120/60 ~ 120/70 section tire
• 4.5″ x 17″ rear wheel, can fit 150~165 rear tire
• 60~65 hp
• Approximate 300 pound weight

We’ve listed lots of Aprilia’s on this blog and this one seem a touch on the high side. But it does only have 4300 miles and it boasts a street registration. Could be good for the right buyer.

2003 Aprilia RSV Mille R Colin Edwards Replica

Located in Massachusetts is a 2003 Aprilia RSV Mille R Colin Edwards Replica, one of 461 worldwide. If you’re looking for a modern Italian V-twin, this bike may be up your alley. This bike differs from a standard Mille R by having a “…SBK Superbike exhaust system designed jointly by Akrapovic and Aprilia Racing…57mm throttle body kit, carbon-fiber racing airbox…and carbon fiber bodywork.” A neat Mille and something different if you’re looking for something Italian but don’t want a run of the mill Duc. The only disadvantage of buying this bike used? Not being able to partake in the original track day with Mr. Edwards himself that the bike would have originally come with. The bike has been used and is showing 12,679 miles, but with the auction starting at $1.00, the market will decide how that mileage effects this bikes value. See the Motorcyclist Magazine review here. See the eBay ad here.

See one with 323 original miles located in Orange County, California here. (06/29)

EDIT: Sold for $8,200 with 24 bids on 06/20/09.

1995 Aprilia RS250

Located in Trenton, Michigan is a supposedly official Aprilia import 1995 Aprilia RS250.  The seller claims that this was brought into the U.S. by Aprilia and isn’t a converted cup bike–very neat if true.  Showing only 2476 miles (Original MPH speedometer?) this bike looks very clean from the small but numerous pictures.  The opening bid is $8,500, which I expect to be market correct– once the history and condition have been verified. If you’re looking for a plated RS250 with some slight modifications, this one is worth investigating.  See and bid on the eBay ad here

California Street Legal 2006 Aprilia RS125

As you may be aware, Aprilia brought a semi-street-legal (headlights, tail lights, but incorrect wiring harness and off-road use only title) RS125 to the U.S. for 2009, however Europe and the rest of the world has been enjoying 125’s for years.  Offered for sale in Redwood City, California is a titled and plated street legal 2006 European market Aprilia RS125.  This example shows only 305 original miles and looks to be in excellent condition.  The asking price of $8500 may be a bit high as supposedly plated ’09 RS125’s have been advertised at around $6-6.5k ($5449 MSRP for the non-street legal version).  However, this is a legitimately plated bike and quite possibly the only plated 2006 (there may be a couple more) in the U.S.; it comes with desirable performance accessories, spares, and all the original parts. The 2006MY is the first for the latest iteration of the RS125 that includes the 2009’s.  If seriously interested, money may talk and a sold price could be well under the asking, but don’t expect it to be under the going price of the ’09’s.  Is it sad that we lust over what is just an entry level bike in Europe?  See the Craigslist ad here. And the hi-res Flickr photos here.

EDIT: Now advertised at $7900.
