Anthony tips us to this tidy NSR250 available on Seattle Craigslist for just $4k. And it’s titled with only 6k miles! It has a few blems that are pointed out in the ad but this looks like a deal at $4k for a streetable NSR. Good luck to buyers and seller!

elling my beloved NSR250R, bike has a clean and legal title, Starts, runs, rides, factory tool kit still in seat box. Been my commuter back and forth to work. Never been down or crashed. This is a grey-market bike! V-twin 2 stroke race bike sold in most places in the world but never in the USA. Bike has 180psi in each cylinder and runs strong. Also this is a kick start ONLY bike. There was never electric start on the bike to begin with (most people ask where the electric starter is). Oils and fluids changes every 1000km (im very uptight about maintenance), only use Honda HP2/GN2 2 stroke oil. All lights, horn, indicators and brakes work as they should. Bike has no issues. This would be a fun bike to ride on the nice days we get here in WA then take to the track and blast around on. When I bought the bike it had been shipped from Japan to the owner, and after 2 years he never rode it!. Bike has 10,600km (that is 6,600 miles) Pretty low for a bike made in 1993 (LESS THAN 400 MILES A YEAR) There is a small amount of decal smudging and a 1/4in crack from when the bike was brought here from Japan and some small scratches near the seat from my old riding pants which is shown in the pictures below but I am being up front about the damage , so no surprises:

Spotted! 1993 Honda NSR250SE MC21 in New Mexico!

Two stroke smoke is in the air! 2013 has certainly started with a bang given the number of great smokers we have seen in the past few weeks. Here is another one to consider; while not stock, it does look very clean and sports a New Mexico title. Consider the following photos:

From the seller:
This bike started off as a very used stock NSR250SE MC21. It is now the beautiful bike in the photos. Kept in temperature controlled garage. Only about 8 miles on it after rebuild and paint.

Body, rearsets, expansion chambers are TYGA. Front end and triple clamp is 1993 Honda RS250. Powder coated front Marchesini magnesium rim. Full Brembo. Iron rotors. All new bearings. Reduced steering lock from stock due to reduced triple clamp offset.
Trailtech digital display. New Honda RS250 coils and leads. Wire splice mod done.
Brembo radial front master cylinder. New CRG clutch perch. POR-15 coated tank.
Excellent condition Honda RS250 radiator with electric water pump, silicone hoses, Guhl thermostat.

Stock, completely rebuilt carbs with HRC jet kit, UNI foam filters.
Engine, transmission, and clutch completely rebuilt with new parts and RS250 lower cylinder head conversion. Stock and RS250 plugs and caps. Crank has new bearings, thrust washers, shot peened and balanced pistons and rods. New rod bearings.
All brake calipers rebuilt with new seals. Stock powder coated, widened rear wheel with new bearings. AFAM sprocket. Regina chain. Both new.

Enough parts to build a second engine, including transmission, clutch assembly, completely rebuilt, zero miles crank with shot peened rods. Various new gaskets, bearings, and seals. Spare PGMIII. This bike uses premix. No oil injection system.
Registered and titled in New Mexico.

If oil can be referred to as “black gold” then surely the market should start to refer to these two strokes as “smokey gold.” Prices are definitely on the move, with stakes on the rise for top-level examples of the breed. This bike – while not stock – seems to qualify as per the pictures. The starting bid is set at $9,000 with no takers at the time of writing, so if you want to make ring-a-ding noises in the new year you’d better come with a full wallet. Eye Candy: 1991 Honda NSR250 MC21 Kato Replica

Update 11.23.12: We love this look of this bike but it’s failed to sell a few times. Having been relisted several times, the seller has now included a buy-it-now of $12500 in the latest listing on eBay. The highest bid we’ve seen is $7600 in previous listings. Links updated. -dc

Love it! I’m a sucker for replica’s and this Daijiro Kato replica doesn’t dissapoint. I believe this would be a replica of the NSR250 Kato piloted in the 200o Grand Prix season, finishing third overall. Sadly, Kato was killed at the Suzuka GP in 2003 riding in MotoGP.

By the way, these pictures don’t do the bike justice, you have to click on the video below to appreciate this machine. I think the word “wow” might come to mind a few times.

Low mileage and a title to go with the good looks. Moto2 is entertaining to watch but I still miss these bikes and their factory GP cousins.

Not a thing out of place. They even went with a GP type brake reservoir set up.

I really don’t have anything meaningful to add. You either love the race replica look or you don’t. If you do, this is one fine example. It looks like the seller is seeking top dollar from the info he posted on the WWW. The only problem with the reps, no matter how stunning, is finding a buyer who was in as much love with that GP machine as you were. Maybe more importantly, is his love matched by his willingness to open his check book?

The auction is up and running and I’m betting quite a ways to go before hitting the reserve. Here it is.

Two Stroke Heaven: 1992 Honda NSR250SE (MC21)

Location: Western Pennsylvania

Miles: 4,317

Price: Currently $2,025 with Reserve in place

When I arrived at the RSBFS corporate offices today, vision’s of NSR250’s mysteriously popped into my head. I later began to hear the faint sounds two-strokes blazing up and down the street, but every time I ran to the window to check, I saw nothing. Like a deranged mad man, I searched high and low to find one of these beauties to scratch my itch. Finally, I found this MC21 SE model.

The SE fell in the middle of the NSR250 line up between the standard R version and the high end SP version. The SE featured the dry clutch found in the SP as well as an adjustable suspension for the front and rear. The bike for sale here looks to be in good condition. The seller highlights that it did suffer a low speed drop at one point in which the front upper and lower fairings were replaced with NOS pieces. Also, the bike will need a little bit of maintenance in order to be in proper riding condition.

From the Seller:

Up for auction is a 1992 Honda NSR250 MC21 SE. I bought this bike a couple years ago because it came with a bunch of NOS spares including some pieces I needed to finish a race bike I was working on. The bike had been brought to theUSby a guy in the Army who’d been stationed inEngland. While there, he had a low-speed accident when parking after a quick rain storm and it scratched the fairing. He replaced the front upper and lower fairings with NOS pieces and they are in super shape. The rear section has some scratches and the tank has a couple minor dents and scratches as well. Please note that mileage on speedometer is in Km’s and I converted to Miles for listing. The overall condition is very nice but obviously it’s being sold in used, as-is condition. Gas must be pre-mixed as the previous owner told me the oil pump is disconnected. It has week-old gas in it with Honda 2 stroke oil. I never rode the bike except for when I bought it and this weekend when I got it running to list on Ebay. Before riding, it will need a tune up and a rear caliper O-ring (I remember it sticking when I bought it). I may have the o-ring as I remember ordering one, and if I find it this week I’ll either get it put in or include it with the sale. The battery is brand new, and when I installed it and added new gas to the tank, it started right up. These are gray market bikes and no one ever got a title for this one since it was more of a collector’s item. I’ll include a bill of sale and there are companies who advertise online that can get titles. I never did it since I didn’t need to… (continued in the eBay auction)

The bike may not be pristine and need a tune up bring it to proper riding condition, also it does not have a title. But, it is a damn cool bike and these don’t come around very often. I would say it needs a little TLC to make it close to perfect. But because of this, I wouldn’t be afraid to actually ride the thing and enjoy all it has to offer. It is an SE model, so it is a step up from the R, but it won’t command the price of an SP. You can check out the auction here and make this MC21 yours!

Man, this stinks!  I’m stuck here in the Sovietesque RSBFS offices and the boss in away sunning in the tropics.   While he is gone I’m going  to sneak in some more eye candy from the old world.

Whoever runs this shop in the UK has good taste as they are  bringing in some nice and rare NSR’s.   I can’t say I’ve seen a Pentax Edition before and didn’t even know they had sponsored  a Honda race team.  Remember when race teams actually had sponsors?

 

Is it a 1990 or 1991?  It is listed as a 1990 but several web searches came back with 1991.  Is this another case of Japanese domestic bikes being a year ahead of what they exported?

As is usual with the SP’s you get the dry clutch, magnesium wheels and adjustable suspension.  Honda took a different path than Suzuki when it came to race replicas.  Honda clothed their SP’s in racing colors while all the Suzuki VJ22 Lucky Strikes that we love were just standard models.  I’m seeing 1500 as the number produced in this color scheme.

All the stock Honda photo’s show the bike without the “Pentax” stickers.  I’m assuming it came as a sticker kit with the bike.  I know it is just bodywork but like the Cabin and Terra Racing replicas, it would be a nice addition to a collection.

Everybody hates Monday’s so here is a little eye candy of the two wheeled variety provided courtesy of Honda.  Sit back, put of your work off and dream a little of a garage filled with rare NSR’s.  Take your pick of a Terra Racing replica or one decked out in Cabin Racing colors.

I know the Rothmans replicas are the iconic NSR250 but I think these Terra Racing reps are my favorite.  The sellers ad claims 1500 were produced.

Damn, I’m a sucker for those green number plates.  Can there be a more shallow reason to like a bike?

She has around 15,000 miles on her and the seller is asking the equivalent of  $7,800.  It sure would be a nice way to top off a NSR250 collection.

Ok NSR men help me out on this one.  Was this an official replica or just paint the had Cabin Racing colors?  The seller claims a production of 2500 in this color scheme.  Doing an internet search for this bike brought up several photos of the Cup Noodle race NSR’s.  I vaguely remember seeing a picture of a street version of that bike.  Did Honda ever produce a Cup Noodle replica?

 

There’s the reason all RGV250’s don’t have “banana” swing arms.  Honda had the patent on the “Gull Arm” and didn’t appreciated the copy.  Suzuki definitely put more style into it.

 

Sure looks like a nice example to me.  It only shows 6200 miles, has the original two keys and of course a rattling dry clutch.

Gardner and Doohan wannabe’s,  start your engines.  Just as Lucky Strike paint catches a Suzuki  mans eye,   nice Rothmans paint work does the trick for NSR men.  I don’t blame anyone for painting their bike in Rothmans colors, they look damn good and bring back memories of Honda GP dominance (unfortunately).

This one is a chameleon though,  it didn’t leave the factory looking like a pack of Rothmans cigarettes.  By the way, the seller is upfront about this and not trying to pull one over on you.

It sure looks good in pictures but paint always has to be seen in person.  The seller states the bike is stock and has our favorite piece of governmental paperwork  here at RSBFS.   That would be a nice CA title for anyone riding the short bus.

I now it is minor but the front turn signals are not stock items.  It looks like it is missing some back padding for the seat and the rear seat itself.

This one has me a little perplexed.  The Ebay listing, lists the mileage at 12,000 miles.  34,781 KM’s converts to  21,611 miles though.  You might want to ask about that.

Why do I have the urge to smoke?

I guess this is as good as time as any to talk about resprays.  What I’m about to say is a general statement and does not pertain to this actual bike.  Always be a little cautious when looking at a bike that has been resprayed.  Every now and then it is done to hide the true condition of the bike.  Be sure to look past the shiny exterior and compare the paint to the nuts, bolts, frame, hoses etc.  Make sure they are all in the same general condition.

The reason I said that doesn’t apply to this bike is I’m not noticing any of the usual corrosion of a poorly maintained/stored bike.

The details:

For sale is my 1992 NSR250 MC21 2 stroke. This bike is all original and super clean, with a fresh top end. Bike runs perfect and needs nothing but a new good home. Fully street legal, all working lights horn etc. and CURRENTLY registered in CA. The bodywork is original but has been repainted in the SP Rothmans scheme, this is NOT an SP edition bike, it is however still a very rare bike especially this clean and this original and registered with proper paperwork. Title is in hand and bike is ready to go. The reserve on this bike is super low so it is listed to sell. I know what it is worth but with the economy market value has changed. I am open to serious offers so dont hesitate to contact me.  Bikes this clean and rare are very hard to come by so take advantage while it is here. This is the only time I will be listing this bike.

 

So, what’s the price to live out your Rothmans fantasies?  The seller has BIN of $6,500 to go along with the auction.  I’m guessing in this soft market that BIN price is optimistic.  The only bikes  I’ve seen selling for top dollar currently are the true collectibles.  That means low mile, original bikes of the rarest versions.  Considering the year, mileage, model and market I’m thinking  $4,500-$5,200.  What do you think Honda boys?  The seller claims the reserve is set quite low.  To find out how low, place a bid here.
