Perhaps a better title for this post would be “These go to 11.” Why 11 you ask? Because that is how many miles this bike has reportedly been ridden each year since the day it rolled off the showroom floor. I don’t know about you, but I can put in 11 miles of walking a year just between the ultra-plush offices of RSBFS and my parking spot. (Its a lot more than that when jokesters Ian, Rem and Jared arrive before I do and steal my spot right by the front door, but that is a topic for another time). 11 miles. A YEAR. There is something wrong with this picture, and I think a RSBFS reader needs to buy this bike and ride the wheels off of it.
1999 Ducati 748 with 159 miles for sale on eBay
The 748 is known as a darling of a bike. While it is missing some of the grunt offered by the larger 916, it inherits all the same great looks and superb chassis. With Showa suspension instead of Ohlins, there was some cost cutting by Ducati – but for most riders (assuming you would ride this 159 mile time capsule) the difference was difficult to notice. Let that desmoquattro L-twin wind up to 12,500 and bask in the glory of the speed and sound.
From the seller:
I AM SELLING FROM A FRIEND OF MINE A 1999 DUCATI WITH ONLY 159 MILES ON IT, YELOW COLOR SEE PICS.IT HAS A FORZA EXHAUST CARBON FIBER. LIKE SHOW ROOM CONDITION ALWAYS GARAGED STRONG BIKE. LOCATE IN CITY OF INFLEGOOD CAL.
This is a California bike (incidentally the bike is located in the city of Inglewood, not Inflegood as the seller has typed – in the event you are trying to map the location), and the seller has set the reserve AND the opening ask at $5,500. No takers as of yet, but it looks like this low mileage Superbike is going home with the first person who ponies up the cash. Click the link to check out the auction here. I’m pretty sure this bike deserves a home where it will be ridden. Do your homework and then ask yourself: do you have room in your garage? Well do you?
