At this point in the lives of small grey market two-strokes, buyers must often choose between clapped out originals or restorations with a lot of reproduction parts. Long time friend of RSBFS Moto2 Imports has recently found an all-original NSR250R in excellent shape with all the MC21 goodness.
1992 Honda NSR250R SE for sale on eBay
Honda built the NSR250R from 1987-96 and the 4th generation MC21 had the longest run from 1990-93. Though horsepower was legislated at 45, carburetion and ignition control were improved along the way and the MC21 uses the card-based PGM-III system. All the NSR250’s had a similar look with a single trapezoidal headlight, but underneath the bodywork the frames borrowed developments from Moto3, with the MC21 sporting air-adjustable forks and an assymetrical Pro-Link swingarm which allowed the right exhaust to pass underneath. The Super Edition featured a dry clutch and close-ratio gearset.
Moto2 has built a following by searching out better examples, then tuning and making them ready rather than restoring. This NSR250R must’ve had a careful adult rider, its 12,811 miles show no damage or significant wear. Moto2 has this to say about the bike in their eBay auction:
Tired of seeing nothing but junky imports dressed up in cheap aftermarket fairings? This NSR is the real deal, the way the Honda engineers designed it to come off the factory line. Simply put, there are not many bikes of this condition and quality left on the planet.

12,811 miles (20,627km); super clean chassis and peripheral components
Inspected and test ridden – starts/runs/shifts/stops as expected of a bike in this condition
Legally imported with EPA/DOT clearance for US street use.
We have imported dozens of NSRs from Japan over the years, but this ’92 SE is the nicest overall we’ve had come through our doors. The OEM bodywork and tank are in near mint condition, and the chassis is equally clean. Switchgear, rear sets, calipers and hardware look factory fresh, while the exhaust pipes are perfect. Bike has been inspected / test ridden and needs nothing. It starts easily, pulls hard, and shift/stops like it should. If you’ve been dreaming of a two-stroke street bike, but were waiting for the right one, wait no more. Pics posted here, video available on request, and we are happy to answer any questions about this amazing machine.

Though the NSR250R is equipped for a pillion, it’s just not the steed for two-up or a long day. But if the twisty bits are nearby, the instantaneous power and sub-300 lbs. weight are just the thing for maximum fun. Never imported to the U.S., it’ll be an event to see another one. Along with Moto2’s major service, the legendary Honda build combined with the fanatical care this example appears to have had, should make for a very happy new owner.
