The 2014 Ducati 1199 Superleggera was perhaps the ultimate v-twin superbike. Sure, it was powerful, with well over 200hp at the crank from a 12,500rpm v-twin built with Pankl rods, titanium valves, and other lightweight internals. But it was the overall weight that really stunned: every possible component that could be lightened was lightened. Obviously, the bike used carbon fiber everywhere you’d expect, but the frameless bike included a magnesium airbox/headstock, magnesium engine cases, and a carbon-fiber subframe. Every fastener, every component was as light as possible, and the result was a a bike that weighed in, full of gas and still wearing lights and mirrors, at under 400lbs. If ever a bike deserved the appellation “superleggera,” this is it.

When new, the Ducati 1199 Superleggera went for a cool $65,000, an eye-watering sum both then and now. Luckily, prices have come down some since then. Not to a level where I can afford one, but there are plenty of folks running around LA with the $32,995 being asked for this example. The bike is being sold by Wheels In Motion, a well-known dealer in Chatsworth, California and it has less than 4,000 miles on the odometer.
