RSBFS Spring Updates 2011!

First of all, we hope you enjoyed our April Fools fun last week. We had a blast putting it together and I think everyone enjoyed it for the most part. Anyone pick up one of those beauts?

While here in the Pacific Northwest spring has yet to really make an appearance, I know proper riding weather is returning to most of the country as we speak. The guys have already posted some fantastic examples in the past couple of weeks to fill empty garage space and we look forward to seeing what else pops up in April and May — which are historically the most active months on our website. Here are some updates that haven’t made it to this site and we think you’ll enjoy.

Meet-up at West Coast Moto Jam AMA Pro Races in Sonoma this May?

West Coast Moto Jam, Sears Point, SonomaIn May the AMA road racing series comes to Sonoma at the West Coast Moto Jam, and RSBFS is going to be in attendance! A group of us are actually riding down the west coast on our bikes and I’m hoping to organize a brief ride from the track to Lagunitas Brewing in Sonoma on Saturday afternoon. I’m buying the first round, so if you’re in the area please join us! RSVP ahead so I can estimate if we need a reserved area. If anyone would like one of our shirts hand delivered that day I’ll discount to just $10 at the event! S/L/XL still available.

We’d like to reintroduce two of our primary sponsors on Rare Sport Bikes For Sale, SpeedyMoto and Tyga USA. SpeedyMoto produces top shelf aftermarket parts for late model Ducati’s, and Tyga USA is a recent entry to our shores providing many brand new upgrade products for all modern sport bikes and many older two strokes as well. We thank our sponsors for their continued support and welcome new partnership opportunities. Please email me for our latest media guide and pricing if interested.

Tyga USA

And no update would be complete without a heartfelt Thank You to our readers. All of us at RSBFS, RSB, and CSBFS sincerely appreciate you reading our sites, commenting on our picks, and submissions to our sites. We love what we do and without you our work would not be possible. Thank you!

Help Support Our Site with our Cyber Monday Announcements and Offers!

Last year we opened our first holiday shopping store, and while many of you liked it, we didn’t really feel it fit with the exclusivity our site strives for. This year we’re skipping the store and instead presenting some truly special opportunities. And we figured what better day to announce these new offerings than ‘Cyber Monday’!

First, we’re proud to offer some exclusive motorcycle artwork to our readers. These works have been commissioned by a friend of the site and we are now the exclusive dealers. 2 of the prints are even hand signed: one by Nicky Hayden and the other by Wayne Rainey! Please take a moment to examine these works for yourself.

Second, I’m excited to announce that one of authors, Ian K., has started a new venture with a partner in Japan called Kaz Parts +. They are offering three distinct services that will appeal to grey market bike collectors in the U.S. who are trying to obtain parts for their machines: Grey Market OEM Parts, Yahoo Auctions Japan Proxy Bidding And Japanese Aftermarket Parts — all sourced directly from Japan! Please join me in congratulating Ian and his partner on their new venture and check out their services for more details.

Finally, we have some limited stock of shirts remaining that would make for excellent gifts. Today only I’m offering two shirts for $30 shipped. Buy one for you and one for a friend! Quantities are limited and you must email me directly for this special deal.

As always thanks to all our loyal readers! We appreciate your support and wish you a happy holiday season!

2009 Bimota DB7 #25 with only 507 miles for sale!

2009 Bimota DB7

Location: California, MD (20619),
Mileage: a scant 507
Price: $24,500.00
VIN# XXXXXXXXXXR000025

Update 12.16.2010: Sold!

This is an Italian beauty that cannot be argued with from anyone for any reason.

Bimota chose the ever present Ducati Testastretta Evoluzione engine to power the DB7 because simply looking good wasn’t enough. Dressed up in Bimota racing colors the DB7 is sure to catch the eyes of all motorcycle enthusiasts whether their preferred bike is of Japanese or Italian decent. The stock Testastretta Evo produces 160hp from the factory and I’m guessing with only 507 miles the engine hasn’t reached its full potential yet.

Like all Bimota’s the Italian DNA runs deep and can be seen in every carbon fiber body panel, nut, bolt and fastener. As always, there’s plenty of machined billet aluminum and high-end components liberally sprinkled all about. The DB7 sports a oval type trellis frame and is said to increase rigidity over the traditional round trellis frame all while helping to reduce the DB7’s weight. It shouldn’t take much to stop a lightweight Bimota, but just in case they’ve given the DB7 a set of Brembo Monoblock calipers that should prove more than adequate to handle the task.

Have a look:

The DB7 is truly a work of art and is built with the sole purpose of being ridden, but at the same time I understand why most Bimota owners would rather sit and look at them. Hands down Bimota is the premier art studio in Italy.

From the seller:

Original owner
507 miles
Socal bike
All books/keys/paperwork
Never dropped or damaged
Original Bimota rearstand and dust cover included
Evoluzione Billet Slave Cylinder (28,5mm bore size)
Evoluzione Plate Relocator
Evoluzione Billet Throttle Controller
(All installed by Evoluzione; Temecula, CA)
Suspension dialed in for 205-lb rider by legendary Jeremy Toye (Isle of Man TT “Iceman” Winner)
Owned by Bimota enthusiast

From the looks of it this DB7 won’t disappoint even the most discerning Bimota enthusiasts.

For any interested parties please contact Ross at 858*539*5307 for more information or to set up an appointment for viewing.

Cheers!

Rare SportBikes For Sale Hits 1000 Posts!!

Feuerwerk / firework

This announcement marks 1000 posts on the Rare SportBikes For Sale website! I am so proud of what of what this site has become and am so very thankful! Since making this our home in May of 2008, we have been visited by nearly 700,000 worldwide visitors viewing over 1.3 MILLION pages!

Going back in time, here’s the first machine listed on this site, a tasty Honda CBR400RR for a mere $3300:

We’ve come a long way since then, and there are many people to thank:

First and foremost, our fans! Without you, there would be no RSBFS and we are grateful that so many of you value what we do here. In appreciation, I’m offering our shirts on sale this week for $18 shipped! In fact, if you send in a photo of your bike sporting a RSBFS sticker that I can include on the site, I’ll make the deal ever sweeter at $16 shipped! Click the graphic in the upper right hand corner of the website to order (special price reflected on payment screen), or email me your picture for the extra special price.

Doug – I met Doug through the website when I insisted he become a contributor on the site — he was submitting so many great bikes that I couldn’t keep up with all the postings! He has since become the Operations Manager of the website and keeps the day to day running of website a well oiled machine. This website would not be what is today without his involvement, enthusiasm, and expertise. Thanks for being a relentless worker and a great friend!

Alex – When I first found myself running into trouble maintaining the website while juggling a full-time job, a consulting side business, and a few websites, Alex quickly volunteered to help out. This really was a critical turn for the website because it could’ve easily been an abandoned project with other priorities in the mix. Thank you Alex!

Ian – When the site really started taking off late last year, we knew we’d need more help. Ian was one of the first to apply and has been a wonderful addition ever since. He is so consistent that we often depend on him to keep the schedule balanced. His knowledge of two strokes and other grey bikes has been a great help to our team. Thank you Ian!

Phil – Another contributor that started as an RSBFS faithful reader, he joined our team in September 09 when I was once again overwhelmed by his plentiful and quality finds. In addition to running his own business in Hong Kong, and the birth of his daughter, he still finds time to lend his expertise, especially on all things Bimota. Thanks for staying with us during a very busy time with your family Phil!

Jay – Responding to our earlier call for help this year, having Jay join our team was really a wonderful surprise. Jay brings years of industry experience and first hand knowledge to our site having owned his own dealership and been responsible for the importation of many rare bikes into this country. He has also helped us get a taste of top tier, privateer racing with his involvement with the Veloce Racing team. Thanks for adding your talent, experience, and affiliations to our site Jay!

I’d like to thank past contributors Steve and Gerry for their work on our sites. Your posts are a great part of our history and we welcome any additions you’d like to make in the future!

To Mike and Brian, welcome aboard! You’ve both had a great first week and I can’t wait to see your next posts.

Of course I’d like to thank our advertisers, SpeedyMoto and Tyga USA. We are flattered that you’d think of us to promote your products and look forward to our partnership in the future.

We hope you’re all having as much fun as we are with the website and look forward to a bright future moving ahead!

Sincerely,

Dan Crouch

A Great Story on the Restored 1960 Honda RC161 at Barber

Not only was our own RSBFS contributor, Ian K., at the Barber Vintage Festival this past weekend, RSBFS follower and friend, “rrjockey”, was on hand as well and shares a wonderful story on the restoration of the 1960 Honda RC161 racer on display in their museum. This story is also published on our new beta companion site, Rare Sport Bikes.

I’d like to personally thank both Ian and rrjockey for their great write-ups. Please leave a comment if you enjoyed reading these articles as much as I did!
