The Yamaha FZR400 is revered for its handling capabilities. The little Fizzer is razor-sharp when it comes to the twisties, and the 400cc inline four cylinder is a willing – if slightly weak – partner in the mix. These 400s are relatively rare in North America (the US audience seems to prefer cubic inches), and FZR400s that have not been raced, hot-rodded or destroyed and rebuilt are even more rare. That might explain why this particular example hails from Canada – home of many coveted models, some of which never made it to the US. For the FZR400, there are official US imported examples available, so US-based readers will need to take that into account. Still, this bike looks clean (if not in need of a bit of loving), is claimed to be all stock, and at the current moment is a bargain in this no reserve auction. Check it out!
1988 Yamaha FZR400 for sale on eBay
From the seller:
1988 Yamaha FZR400. All stock. Great bike with some minor scratches and scuffs from use and a tip over from the previous owner. From 6 feet away the majority of the scuffs are unnoticeable. Tires have about 50% tread left. The bike runs and shifts great. No known problems. Very very low miles. Bike is sold as is, so there are no warranties expressed or implied. It has a clear open Canadian title, so the new owner will have to register the bike in there state. Rare sport bike that still looks and perfoms great. These will always go up in value as they didn’t make a million of them, like they do with the modern bikes now.
Enough “new” or different parts from stock on it to make me question the mileage claim…Wheels are non standard color (unless off of a 1990). Upper fairing has been replaced with a new OEM part (originals were black inside). None OEM windshield. I t will be interesting to see what final selling price is.
