No Smokes For You: 1991 Suzuki RGV250 Team Suzuki

team suzuki rgv

Remember Schwantz showing up at various GP’s with “Lucky Strike” missing from his bike and leathers?  Suzuki did too and hooked Australia (yes, it is still there) up with 50 of these examples back in 91.  I had no idea these were the real deal until a collector here in the U.S. got his hands one.  Yeah, it is just some stickers but still a hell of a bike to top off a RGV collection.

It’s been ridden with 51,000 KM’s and the one close up show a decent amount of corrosion.  Would that stop me from buying it?  Hell no!  The seller is asking $7,000 AUS.

Here is the listing on Gumtree.

Money Pit? Headache? Great Deal? 1990 Honda VFR750R RC30 Project

vfr750r
Normally we wouldn’t bother with a non running bike with a single picture but not every project bike is a VFR750R,  now is it?

You know what they are and how much they sell for so lets get the story:

Bike is complete. Was disassembled by Honda mechanic to repair spun bearing. The tech was unfamiliar with this model and the bike was pulled from the shop. It has been stored inside and has only 1400 miles on it. As any motorcycle enthusiast knows this is an extremely rare find. Please note the vin#. This bike is #35 in production. Never raced. Need to be reassembled by proper technician. All parts for repair and assembly included, minus marcesinni wheel, it has stock wheels on it now.

Get out that calculator, talk to your friends in the know and make that decision: money pit or great deal?
It’s got a $17,500 BIN and a best offer option.

The listing is right here.

And you guys thought we listed a lot of Bimota’s. It has been a dream Fall for buyers in the market for KZ1000R ELR’s. This one is another beauty with less than 3,000 miles and looking like it just came out of the showroom.

kz close
It apparently is still riding on the original tires as well. Make sure your life insurance is paid up.

“Emotion Technology”: 2008 Bimota Tesi 3D

tesitesi front
Bimota’s website describes the Tesi 3D as “Emotion Technology” and I don’t think they could have found two better words. Bimota’s are all about emotion and the Tesi 3d is an obvious engineering/technology exercise. This example is located in the U.S. and has had a whole 775 miles put on it.

Put the calls on hold, push the paperwork away and enjoy some emotion and technology in pictures.

I have to admit, I’ve never really paid close attention to the Tesi since it is out of my league budget wise but when I sit and look closely;  “wow”!

A quick word from the seller:

Hello I have made a tough decision to sell my Bimota factory hand built limited edition Tesi 3D.It is based on Pierlugi Marconi’s college thesis for which the model was named. It has less than 800 miles and I am the original owner.

This is an early special limited production # 21 of 29 with special CDC and carbon fiber features.

More pictures you ask?

Single Cylinder Exotica: 1992 GILERA SATURNO PIUMA CORSA (U.K.)

sat right

It looks like Gilera was taking its’ racing version of the Saturno very serious.  It was specifically  created for “Super Mono” racing throughout  Europe.  A simple glance tells you  there isn’t much in common with the Saturno road bike other than the name.  These bikes were bumped up to 569cc’s and apparently some factory supported riders got versions that were 620cc’s.

sat tank

Time to go racing, so the street bikes trellis style frame had to go.  Instead it has a pretty darn stout looking twin spar unit.

Look At Those Cans! 1999 Aprilia RSV Mille SP

sp right
The twin mufflers tell you something is just a little different here.  The RSV Mille SP was Aprilia’s take on a homologation special.  Production numbers were right at the rule book minimum; 150.  While it looks quite similar to a standard RSV it really is a different bike.  The short stroke engine was developed in conjunction with Cosworth, the frame is adjustable in multiple ways, the Ohlins suspension is upgraded and it is all wrapped in carbon fiber bodywork.

What are they worth? I’ve never seen one for sale. The BIN of $7,500 seems more than reasonable.

Only the stickers hint at something different from the front.

The info:

Hello I hav e a near perfect 1999 arillia 999cc factory race ready hand made bike. This is in the best shape that it could be in it looks brand new. always kept in a heated showroom for sale. So to the good stuff it has a cosworth 999cc 60 degree v twin it has 6550 for miles. It has all ohlins stablelizers forks and shocks it has brembo dual brakes up front and single in the rear new bridgestone tires this bike is a numbered matching bike the number is 59 of 150 made they imported only 10 to the us only 6 are still lic so bid on this one of a kind bike

sp closeThere’s some carbon fiber.

It doesn’t have the lust factor of say a RC30/45 but I would think this would be quite a desirable bike considering the specs and low production numbers.

The Lost Limited: 1994 Suzuki GSX-R 750 SP (U.K.)

spsp right

The forgotten one of the limited edition GSX-R’s.  The design had gotten old and heavy, they were never imported into the Untied States and only a few hundred were produced;  it all adds up to one rare and highly collectible bike.  What it lacks is the wow factor of the 89 RR and 86 LTD.  Instead it has a list of small targeted upgrades to help reduce weight and help scoot it around the track.  I’ve highlighted a few below but the seller has included the full list on the auction.

1994 Suzuki GSX-R 750 SP for sale on eBay

sp carbs 2

The larger 40mm flatside carbs.

sp carbs

You can just see the magnesium head cover.  Those would be fun to try and order from your local Suzuki parts man.

sp frame

The seller describes a feature I had not heard of, tuneable head pipes via an adjustable bolt to help fine tune carbs.  Kind of interesting the engineers would waste even a single yen on this since the exhaust system is the first thing tossed for racing.

sp brake

Six pot brakes lifted from the 1100.  Wheels are lighter as well.

sp front

The seller claims only six were imported into the U.K. by Crescent Suzuki.  I thought I’d never see one for sale but in the last couple of years we’ve seen 3 or so listed (all in Europe).  Bid accordingly if you are trying to finish off a collection.

Timing Is Everything: 1982 KZ1000R Eddie Lawson Replica (#275)

elr right

This seller is either a genius or has perfect timing.  That beautiful museum piece KZ1000S1 that sold for over $107,000 left a lot of buyers/dreamers wanting.  The S1 was obviously only a reality for those with deep pockets, this ELR could be a reality for a much larger buying segment.  Bidding started at $10,000.

1982 Kawasaki KZ1000R for sale on eBay

It’s not showroom original but it hasn’t strayed far.  The shocks are different from the originals and appear to be the same as what was on the S1.

The story:

THIS IS AN ORIGINAL (NOT A REPRODUCTION MODEL) 1982 KZ1000R EDDIE LAWSON REPLICA WITH ORIGINAL BILL OF SALE FROM JULY OF 1982. THE BIKE HAS A CLEAR TITLE FROM AUGUST OF 1983 WHEN IT WAS PURCHASED BY US FROM THE ORIGINAL BUYER. IT IS #275 OUT 750 PRODUCED. THE BIKE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND HAS HAD REGULAR MAINTAINANCE SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED IN 1983. THE BIKE HAS ONLY BEEN STORED INDOORS SINCE OUR PURCHASE. WE ALSO HAVE THE ORIGINAL PAPERS THAT CAME WITH THE BIKE AS WELL AS SOME PROMOTIONAL ITEMS THAT WERE GIVEN AT THE SALE OF THE BIKE (OWNERS MANUAL, KERKER PINS, KAWASAKI PIN, ORIGINAL BILL OF SALE). WE HAVE DETAILED MEASUREMENTS FOR ALL THE VALVES ON THE BIKE FOR GENERAL MAINTAINENCE IF NEEDED. BIKE WAS ONLY TAKEN OUT FOR WEEKEND RIDES AND NOT USED AS AN EVERYDAY VEHICLE. EVERY WINTER THE BIKE WAS WINTERIZED AND STORED IN THE BASEMENT.

elr dash

It works out to roughly 540 miles a year.  Can you believe the bike is 31 years old?

In the spirit of full disclosure, it sounds like the ELR’s are hot sellers any day of the year.  Bid to win my friends!
