About this vehicle
When the new World Superbike Championship was introduced in 1988, Honda had an issue as its highly successful custom-built RVF750 factory endurance racer (not the RC45) wouldn’t be eligible to compete. So they set out to create a new top-shelf, street-legal, limited edition race bike, producing the minimum number of units required to satisfy homologation rules. Knowing it would only have to turn out a relatively small batch of machines, Soichiro Honda wanted to use the new model to demonstrate what its factory race department was capable of. The result was a no-expense-spared race-grade legend brimming with features previously reserved for track-only machinery. Japan called it the VFR750R, but the bike we fell in love with in America was named the RC30. In total, only 316 RC30s were sold in the US. The VFR750R (the name given to this bike in other markets) was first released in 1987, though only in Honda’s native Japanese market. The model wouldn’t be offered in America until 1990 — the only year it was officially sold on US shores — despite it being released to Europe and most of the other global markets in ’88. Different markets received different spec RC30s, with some versions getting a little less power. One way in which the American model differed was a red Honda wing in the tank, as opposed to the yellow found in other markets.
Vehicle Details
1990 Honda RC30 one of 3000 built by an HRC team in Japan and one of only 316 sold in the United States. I am the second owner since 1991 and have kept this bike all these years in my home. I have only ridden this bike a few times, never racing or abusing it. The first owner kept this bike in storage where the body was slightly damaged, which I have since had repaired. Otherwise, the bike is in excellent condition with only a little over 2000 miles on it, has a clear title, and was maintained regularly. The bike also comes with extra HRC parts which I have collected over the years, and are extremely hard to find, as a bonus. Upper and lower HRC race radiators, front brake calipers and rotors, olins rear shock, HRC race exhaust pipe, HRC carburetor race kit, tool kit and race service stand.

Just back from vacation – enjoy the ebay listing! It is a beauty!

HRC kit parts are unobtanium. They didn’t let just anybody have them. These bikes are perfect on small twisty back roads that open up onto long sweeping bends. The bike gets going once you are beyond the speed limit. Very smooth and both the intake and the exhaust have their own sound. I think Micron still makes a pipe for it. If not, you will need a custom builder. The kit radiators bypass the frame, as the originals run water through one side of the frame. Frame radiates a lot of heat to the rider and can burn you even through leathers. Suspension setup is critical as the bike is short and light. This is exactly the bike I would want if I were to be riding one. This bike and a well sorted 888 would make a great pair for any garage.
Termignoni pipe?
One of my favorite bikes growing up, just could not afford one when they came out. Given the scarcity of parts availability what would something like this be good for other than decorating the middle of your living room floor?
Luke, what makes you say that these are hard to get parts for?
Hrc sticker so conspicuous, i wonder what damage it was intended to hide. It’s like someone painted a blonde mustache on Beyonce. Wtf.
