Readers of this website are no doubt familiar with the game changing 86 Suzuki GSX-R 1100. What we don’t normally see is a bike this original and clean. It still has the original tires, warning decals, and is overall so clean you could swear it was still the late 80’s. The seller details the repair of a slow low-side but as you can tell from the pictures it was a solid effort to correct. Many sellers probably wouldn’t even reveal the repair until after the money had changed hands but this listing is worth seeing in it’s entirety with dozens of close up pictures and a full page testimonial.

1986 Suzuki GSX-R 1100 for sale on eBay
excerpt from the seller:
This bike has been returned to its former glory and it as close to show ready as it can be. This is not a restored bike but a repaired bike. That is very important as originality is where the value lies. This bike is a very high standard bike and deserves a look. As stated above there are not many left in there original condition as it is, never mind one this nice. The bike is completely dry – no gas, no oil, clutch, or brake fluid. The motor has fogging oil sprayed in the cylinders and in the spark plug holes. There was fogging oil sprayed in the exhaust (both ends) as well.

I love this bike.
bike looks great joe.good luck with the sale. bike is in mass kevin.
What an impressive job this particular seller has done here! First, he seems to honestly disclose the story on the bike’s history in an interesting, well written description. That alone sets him apart from the majority of eBay sportbike sellers. Second, instead of some dark/flashy indoor shots with no detail, or almost useless outdoor pictures that show more of the seller’s lawn and house than the bike, he does it right. Gives bidders large, well lit, large, detailed shots that really help determine actual condition. I say “help”, because nothing is as good as an inspection in person. Third, the context. Look at that shop! Clean, organized, enthusiast owned, professional. Gives confidence that you’re buying from someone who cares and likely knows what they’re doing. Compare this presentation to most of the other recent examples, the worst probably being the French RC30. Like I said- an impressive listing. I owned an ’86 GSXR1100 in the same color, and would definitely bid if I wanted another one.
(Sixthgear) Absolutely right! Outstanding job.
I love a good survivors’ story . This is one of those ! Though not a Suzuki fan I give props to Suzuki for introducing the world to the first modern Sportbike technology . And yes , I am sorry to say I do have a little case of “shop envy ” ! 🙂

Not a Suzuki fan? How can you be a sportbike fan without loving suzuki? They introduced the GSXR and changed the game forever. This bike is absolutely beautiful.
@Jeff, re: “…How can you be a sportbike fan without loving suzuki? They introduced the GSXR and changed the game forever. …”
same could be said when Kawasaki introduced the Monoshock rear suspension on the GPz’s in ’82 and then went to the more full aero styling fairings ( from previous bikini styles) in ’83. Anyway you slice it, the 80’s were chock full of one upping in the Japanese sportbike arena when it comes to pushing all aspects of changing the game in the name of pushing the envelope.
Thanks guys,
I must say I am pleasantly surprised with all the good comments. Lately it seems all the comments for the great bikes here on this site have been negative. I even told my wife, watch, here comes the haters…LOL. Some people in general don’t view these bikes that come up here as rare or collector. They make comments like, “there were millions of them” or “you could buy a newer bike for less”. The fact of the matter is the more run of the mill the bike was/is the more hard it is to find in great condition with low miles. No one thought they would be worth anything let alone more than there original purchase price. Case in point is it is very hard to find an abused high mileage RC30, RC45, OW01 out there. (Please don’t tell me that you know of one and or your sister in-law’s friends cousin’s former roommate’s neighbor has/had one, as I am sure there is a rare exception to the rule). They were all bought with an understanding that they had something special and treated it that way. Never mind the fact that they were so expensive that the owners were more apt to understand the value of a dollar. Kids bought these (me included) and went to work ridding the crap out of them and ringing there necks as often as possible. Along the way modifying everything they could to make there bike stand out in a crowd.
To have a site like this (which is a lot of work) for us to enjoy as enthusiasts and or collectors is a real luxury. There is a lot of time, research and thoughtfulness that goes into each and every write-up. I hope all of you will send in the holiday emails thanking them for the hard-work throughout the year.(everyone loves a pat on the back) Keep up the good fight!
The bike is a real gem and I hope it finds its way to a good home.
Again, thanks for the comments. God bless and happy holidays!
PS: Kevin the bike is in Worcester, Massachusetts! LOL
Ha Ha , I said I wasn’t a Suzuki fan ……but no one asked me if I ever owned one …did they ? The answer is 3 . 2 GS750s (circa 1982 (about 4 years ago….) and around the same time a nice quite clean 1996 SRAD . This to me was the real game changer in that era . Though mine I only used to clean up an turn around …back in the day a few opf my friends used to let me borrow theirs here and there . And I will admit I thoroughly enjoyed riding them . I just am not a fan of the mechanincs of Suzukis . Overall great bikes , just I have wrenched on Honda V-fours for the past 25 years . Everytime I bought a bike other than a Honda I didn’t have the greatest luck , so I stick to the tried and true . As BrianZ said the Japanese were so busy one upping each other that there were many awesome bikes of every brand that came out . If I win the lootery I definitely would have all the 4 bikes of 89 and more i.e : the 89 ‘ RC30 , GSXRR , OW01 , and the ZX7RR all parked in my living room to drool over……. Going to buy a ticket now !
Beautiful, hope new owner take as good of care it as this one has.
