This is a California titled and registered MC18 NSR250!
Bike: 1989 Honda NSR250(R)
Price: $5,000 USD
Location: Vallejo, California
Mileage: 23,000km (14,291mi)
This seller states that this bike has never been down and is registered for road use. The seller also states that the only thing that isn’t original on this bike is a fairing that was replaced but, it looks to have been repainted and has a solid windscreen. The bike does have 23,000km. The seller states “I am asking $5,000 OBO, I am aware that it is worth a lot more…”; From the MC18′s we’ve seen, this bike is priced quite high in regards to condition but, it does have a California title so it’s worth looking into. See the other MC18 posts here. See this bike on Craigslist here.

This is a very nice MC21 NSR that has come up for sale again! Located in Seattle, Washington is a 1993 Honda NSR250R registered and titled in Washington state. This bike has 9,600km (5,965mi) and has never seen the track. The seller states that this bike is in original condition with some small scratches and scrapes. We saw this bike in August of 2009 with 75 less kilometers and an asking price of $3,900. The current asking price is $5,800; don’t hate the seller for the possibility of making a profit on the bike as he bought it for a steal. Have a look at the PhotoBucket album that has a number of detailed photos here. See this great looking MC21 on Craigslist here.

This is a California legal NSR250SP at a very good price! Located in San Francisco, California is a 1996 Honda NSR250SP registered and titled in the state. The seller doesn’t say much at all other than:
1996 Honda Repsol NSR 250 SP MC28 CA SMOG LEGAL. ALL ORIGINAL HONDA PARTS.
The photo is a file photo from the internet but I’ll include it in the post for those of us who may have forgotten what a Repsol MC28 looks like. There were only 1000 ’96 Repsol SPs released world-wide to commemorate Mick Doohan’s 500gp world title. The MC28 was the last iteration of the NSR250 line and the SP the ultimate iteration of that line. However, the MC28s are plagued with the PGMIV system using a Smart Card ignition system. The standard cards limit horsepower output but, the derestricted HRC cards can be used, and please correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t record mileage when in use as they were only intended for track use–something that should be kept in mind for a prospective buyer. Now, no mileage, mention of condition, or photos of this bike are in this ad; the asking price is an agreeable $8,000. We’ve usually seen California MC28 SP’s with asking prices in the $10-12,000 range. See a list of our MC28 posts here. If you’ve been looking for a SP MC28, see this bike on Craigslist here.

This NSR isn’t titled but it looks to be a nice example in the U.S. This NSR250 is located in Bellmore, New York. 1993 was the last year for the MC21 range; being replaced in 1994 by the Pro-Arm equipped MC28. The seller states that everything works, and works well. As I said, this bike isn’t titled but, if you can overcome that–or are just looking for some living-room art–this could be a nice NSR for you. The asking price may be a bit high at $5,000 with the lack of title and little other information. This one’s worth a look. See it on Craigslist here.

UPDATE (1/25): The seller let me know that this bike sold for $8,500; Congrats!
This bike is in beautiful, recently restored, condition! Located in Dover, Delaware is a recently restored Honda NSR250SP Rothmans bike. Details are still scarce but there are plentiful pictures and a known asking price of $6,000 and the bike shows 11,450km. If this bike is titled it is a very good price! Details will be updated when/if we get them before this bike sells. As you should know, this is the only generation to use the PGMIV and the only one with the Pro-arm rear swing arm. See the ad on ApriliaForum here; and see the detailed photos on Picasa Web here.

This isn’t the best looking NSR but it is a California plated example! Located in Las Vegas, Nevada is a Honda NSR250SP that isn’t original but does have the magical California title and plate. This bike was originally a Rothmans replica bike but currently wears Tyga and Airtech fiberglass painted black and orange. The bike does have a Tyga stainless expansion chamber and aluminum silencer, Tyga air filter, carbon fiber reed cage & reeds and the frame & swing arm have been polished. The seller dosen’t mention an asking price. This bike dosen’t have the original plastics but I think the title and registration far out weigh the cosmetic downfalls–plastics can be found, titles cannot. If you’d like a registered SP, see the bike on Craigslist here.

Located in Tallahassee, Florida is a track-only 1993 Honda NSR250R. This bike isn’t titled or registered however it looks to be a very clean track bike with recent service and a good spares package. The recent work listed is:
-New fork seals and fluid (wipers/dust)
-Carbs cleaned and soaked
-Replaced reeds (Boyesen)
-New Battery
-New Reg/rec
-Fresh Paint job
The MC21 NSRs are pretty dependable without an ignition card but don’t support the sexy single sided swing-arm of the MC28. Some information on MC21s:
Unveiled in late 1989 as the new 1990 model, the MC21 took the 2-stroke world by storm, and completely re-wrote the rule book on how a 250 2-stroke should be built. The craftsmanship was superb, and the new features were groundbreaking!
The MC21 now utilised the PGMIII ECU taken from the legendry RC30 superbike (only now being utilised in GP250 by official HRC NSR’s incidentally!!), and coupled to throttle position and gear position sensors, controls both the timing of the RC Valves, air correctors and ignition advance to give outstanding low end tractability. The PGM-III features a true 3D ignition and a different map for each cylinder.
In keeping with their racer for the road image, the famous Gull-Arm rear swingarm was copied from the RS250 of Luca Cadalora, as was the frame design. Even the mounting point for a steering damper was kept in place! The body-styling was based on the 1988 and 1989 RS250′s, with just a few basic concessions like lights and a rear pillion seat!! The rear wheel diameter was decreased from 18″ to 17″ and widened to 4.5″ to run the latest tyre profiles and compounds.
This looks to be a clean NSR that would be a blast on the track. The asking price is $3,800; a decent price considering there are untitled, un-race-prepped bikes going for more. See it on the WERA forum here. See the dealer listing here.

Located in San Diego, California is an untitled 1991 Honda NSR250. This bike needs a battery and new rings for the rear cylinder (safe to say a whole new top end). This bike needs work and isn’t titled but it is priced fairly at $2,800. If you have mechanical and great people skills, this could be the bike for you. See the bike on Craigslist here.
