1993 Ducati 900 Superlight

Ducati 900 Superlight located on the Long Island, NY Craigslist, that is part of a larger collection and might even be part of the same collection that Alex posted up a few days ago. These mid 90's Ducati's are moving up on my list of "bikes to own", but this one is probably out of my reach for now (or later). This one only has 1,000 miles on the clock and has a hefty $13,300.00 price tag, but considering the condition could be worth every penny. Dan is a big fan of these and usually post up every Superlight he sees, but since I needed to get on the board this month, I couldn't bring myself to pass it over to him 😉

The owner didn't elaborate much on this bike or his other collection pieces that he is looking to move, but did kindly list his phone number for any would be buyers. So if you were expecting a Ducati 900 Superlight decked out in "look at me" Yellow and didn't find it under the tree; jump on over to CL and give this one a look. It looks like a Million bucks!

Happy New Year!

Private Collection in New Jersey

I haven't see this website before but, Motorcycles For Sale Classic, is apparently a broker for a collection of motorcycles out of New Jersey.  It looks to have been recently updated but has some obvious errors--make sure to contact the seller by phone to confirm anything on their site.  Anyhow, these are some of the bikes that are still available that I found interesting:

  • 1977 MV Agusta 850SS with 1,791 original miles.
  • 1977 Ducati 900SS with 2,500 original miles.
  • 1986 Suzuki GSX-R750 Limited Edition with 2,358 original miles (Vance & Hines exhaust fitted).
  • 1985 Suzuki RG500 with 385 original miles.
  • Yamaha TZR250 with 22,245 miles.
  • 1984 Yamaha RD500 with 31,600 miles.
  • A second Yamaha RD500 with less miles.
  • Aprilia RS250 with 610 original miles.
  • 1995 Cagiva Mito.

These aren't all the bikes listed on the site--and more appear in the background of photos--but again, I would caution anyone against acting too quickly.  The website listed features errors and older dates but, I haven't seen these photos featured anywhere else and they all look to be correct and from the same location.  Titles and registration isn't mentioned and only a few bikes have asking prices.  Regardless, take a look at the site as it may be an undiscovered mine!

MidAmerica Auctions, Inc. January 7-9 2010 Las Vegas, Nevada.

This is an odd post as it isn't about a specific bike in the sale but there will be some very interesting ones available (to name just a few):

  • 1967 Aermacchi CRTT
  • 1971 Benelli 250 Cafe Racer
  • 2000 Cagiva Mito
  • 1978 Ducati Super Sport
  • 1958 Gilera 125 Race
  • And much, much more.

It's worth looking at the current consignment list to see if there is something in there for you--there is everything from vintage road racers and flat trackers to Harley's.  Remember, it's not too late, you can always phone in a bid.  See the bid list here. See the MidAmerica Auctions, Inc. website here.

A litter of Ducati Desmosedici D16RRs for sale – take your pick!

Sometimes there are just so many cool and rare bikes for sale out there that it's hard to choose which ones to post. I came across a few Bayliss reps and 1098Rs, which in their own rights are rare birds, but for me the ultimate still has to be the Desmosedici. I have located 8 (would you believe it?) for sale around the world (I figure if you are in the market for one, where they are in the world doesn't really matter, right?) and here they are:

Desmosedici #418 for sale in New York

:

Ducati Desmosedici #190 for sale in Michigan

(this one has a long list of tasty upgrades added):

Ducati Desmosedici #869 for sale in Portland
#1033 for sale in Peterborough, UK (fitted with race pipe and ECU):

Ducati Desmosedici #1033 for sale in UK

:

Ducati Desmosedici #872 for sale in Hertfordshire, UK

:

Ducati Desmosedici for sale in Cambridgeshire, UK

:

Ducati Desmosedici #767 for sale in Italy

And the last one, :

Ducati Desmosedici for sale in Genoa Italy

I never thought I'd see so many D16RRs up for sale at one time.  Any lucky prospective buyer will get the opportunity to hand pick the best from this bunch.  Now where did I put that lottery ticket?!

1982 Ducati 900 MHR Supersport

Found this sweet located in Dan's backyard (Damascus, OR) so I thought I'd get it posted up before he did.....;o)~

10121113

I'm a self admitted "don't know a whole lot" when it comes to Ducati's, but I know Dan and Mark over at Ducati News Today do, so I'm sure they'll save me once again.

It looks clean, complete and it's a replica so I figure I can't be too far off base on posting this one.

Owners comments:

1984 Ducati Mike Hailwood Replica. Although this bike is titled as a 1982, the serial number and configuration make this one of the last 50 900 MHRs before the switch to the Mille (1000cc). This bike has the late dry hydraulic clutch, adjustable clip-ons, air fork cap, calipers mounted on the rear of the fork legs, etc as noted in Ian Falloon's DUCATI BIBLE, 8560, 900 & Mille. It also has the late style side cases (well, it's not really a "round case", but they do look better).. This bike is in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition and only has 14,818 Kms on the clock, which transalates to just shy of 9200 miles. It has been fitted with extra large K&N filters to allow the the 40mm Dellorto's to breath and exhaust thru a set of proper Conti mufflers. It also has been fitted with a "gear gazer". I've recently replaced the chain and sprockets with top end products from BevelHeaven. The battery is also a sealed AGM battery that I sourced from Bevelheaven. I also went thru the carbs and replaced the fuel petcocks, fuel line and new filters, because the original line was very hard and I was afraid it would crack. The seat cover was replaced with a new original from Andy at Desmo.de because it has a small tear. I left off the passenger grab strap because I didn't care for it's look, but it is included with the bike. The chassis number is DM900R1 906448 and the Eng # is *909248 *DM860. This bike is only 58 numbers older than the MHR that recently sold here for $21,600 early in November (Ebay item 150383231242). Included with the bike is an original parts manual and two oil filters. Note that these late MHR's have a screw on oil filter which is much better than that on the earlier models. These motors also have an oil sight gauge in the side of the motor that is viewable thru a hole in the fairing.

It is being offered with a B.I.N. of $15,000.00 so if your in the market for an antique Ducati this may be the one for you.

Exciting Exclusive: Collection of 17 Rare, Exotic, and Low Mileage Bikes Soon to be For Sale

Update 1.8.2010: Rory has sent us an update on the remaining bikes. Please contact Rory at vtauto@sbcglobal.net for further information about the remaining bikes available for sale in the collection.

Rory and his business partner have contacted Rare Sport Bikes For Sale to alert of us of a collection of 17 bikes that will soon be for sale.

His message included the following details:

My business partner, Lee and I are trying to help his neighbor sell the bikes owned by her late husband. The 17 bikes that are left to sell are primarily sport bikes and they are all somewhat special in one way or another: Limited Editions, grey market, low (or no) mileage, etc. It’s taking some time for the widow to have the bikes re-titled in her name, but we are now getting to the point where we need to figure out how to find buyers looking for the somewhat unusual bike.

And here is the list I was given:

Bike Model Year Mileage Notes
Honda V45 1983 9.8
Norton 810 Dunstall 1972 1983
Ducati 888 SPO 1993 2031
Yamaha FZR 750 RR km 1052
Benelli TRE 2004 2
Yamaha R1 SE 2006 0
Ducati 851 Tricolore NA
MV F4 2000 426 Serial number 10000
Ducati 916 SPS 6059
Yamaha R1 2001 18137
Bimota Tesi ?
Ducati F1 km 5234
Moto Guzzi Daytona R 1996 km 21421
Yam RZ500 1984 5571
Honda RC45 3718
Yamaha R7 3646 km
Yamaha (R1?) 2005 17 Race prepped

Clearly a collector with discerning taste, and pieces that match our theme here perfectly. Please leave a comment below if you'd like to see a particular piece of this collection processed sooner than later.

Thanks for contacting us Rory. Looking forward to seeing this collection go to new homes! I'm wish I was reckless enough to consider a second mortgage and the penalties on draining my retirement to get in line for some of these!
