We recently posted a US-based ELR here on Rare, and now find this good looking Canadian example. These bikes are somewhat rare in the US, although they had a longer life span in Canada. Celebrating multiple AMA Superbike championships under the wrist of California-born Eddie Lawson, Kawasaki built a real bad-boy replica racer with components and looks unique to anything in the Kawi lineup. Sure, some basic parts were borrowed and bolted on, but the result was a striking statement of Team Green. With the larger 1100cc motor and some shiny new paintwork, this 1984 model is looking for a new caretaker for the next phase of its life.
1984 Kawasaki ELR 1100 for sale on eBay
From the seller:
While the body work on this recent find has been professionally re-painted, the rest all but qualifies as a “SURVIVOR”. Bike runs great and had a favourable leak down test done on it.Original dash cluster was changed at 10786km due to a failed fuel gauge and is included with this bike. New Metzler tires and Kerker megaphone similiar to orignial.
There is some minor touch-up paint on frame and the seat has the typical issue at the bottom front corners. Yes the 6th & 7th digits of the VIN are “R’s”
Please look at pictures carefully
While the larger 1100cc engine is desirable, the seller’s recommendation to look at the pictures carefully is indeed wise. We at RSBFS always recommend that prospective buyers ask a lot of questions, and scrutinize pictures with care. The seller is up front that this is not an all original bike – it has been repainted and has “period correct” pieces on it. That should not necessarily scare you away. Buyers looking for a museum quality “just-off-the-showroom-floor” purchase might want to pass. For everyone else enamored by these brutal rockets of the past, check it out here and then let us know what you think!
