1984 Yamaha RZ500 For Sale in Vancouver, BC

I normally don't post Canadian classifieds on this blog because the importation rules to the U.S. are pretty limited. But RZ's just don't come around too often, so I'm posting this 1984 RZ500 For Sale for $6k:

quote from seller's Craigslist ad:

[...]
This bike is in good running condition and seems totally original. I am not an export with RZ500 but it looks all there and un modifed. This bike is all original including the bump seat cover. This is the lowest (besides a musem bike) KM RZ500 I have seen here with 24692.4 KM's . THE FRAME SAYS MADE 4/84, but it is registered as an 1985. It starts first kick and runs good. I have put new plugs in it, fresh battery, drained and put in new crank case oil also put in fresh brake fluid front and back. The last owner told me it has stock pistons but cannot confirm that.

It needs:
-tires.
-front and rear turn signals hooked up.
-rear signal & plate bracket put on.
-original bodywork screws/fastners
-chain & sprockets.
-front brake drags a touch.

It has seems to have been layed down at some point by looking at the damage on the right side. The fairing has been repaired a long time ago but not my me. It still needs some work. The belly pan is cracked and needs some repair as someone tried with some screws. The fairing has been cracked up and repaired. The case cover has a small scuff plus the rear passenger mount has been repaired. The upper fork tubes behind the headlight have some minor pitting but do not even get close to the seals. The neutral light does not seem to work. The outside pipes have some minor dints in them but look fine. The tank has a very small dint on the upper right of the tank. There is a piece missing from the upper right nose piece. Also a few tabs that keep the faring on have been cracked off. I did not have all the correct fastners to put the body work on with so that is something I suggest you find.
[...]

This one will need some work to be nice again, but it doesn't sound like the damage is too extensive. But for the right buyer who's handy with a wrench, this could be a nice buy with some negotiating.

As an appreciating classic, I wonder how fast these will climb in value.

1978 BMW R100RS Motorsport For Sale

So while only 200 of these were made available for sale in the U.S., it's not exactly of the same genre of motorcycle I've been posting. Which is exactly why I'm posting it!

1978 BMW R100RS Motorsport Model For Sale on Portland Craigslist for $4500:

quote from seller's Craigslist post:

One of 200. Rare, collectible bike. Original with period upgrades - San Jose fork brace and rear swing arm and dual plug heads. 40mm bing carbs. New brakes, calipers, ss brake lines and rear master cylinder. Tires have less than 1000 miles on them (Metzlers). Some scratches, no dents. Original; paint in very good, but not perfect condition. Needs restoration to show quality - or use as is for an amazing and rare driver. Come see it - these are the best pictures I have. Asking $4500 or best offer

I'm not sure why, but I'm intrigued by this bike. It's bodywork is quite ugly yet it has many nice features and I'll bet that fairing actually is useful. Plus it has the option of fitting handsome and real luggage. What's your take?

Here's an interesting first hand account of R100RS Motorsport ownership.

88 Honda NSR250 Rothmans: Another CA Titled 2 Stroker

This Rothmans replica isn't as cherry as the previous one I posted, but it sounds like a perfect track day bike or even immediate rider. Especially for the $3900 asking, and listed with a title!

1988 Honda NSR250 Rothmans Replica on Craigslist:

quote from seller's Craiglist ad:

88 rothmans nsr 250 ca street legal, about as rare as can be. 260lbs and 65hp 2 stroke v-twin. been in shed for 9 months. ran perfect when put in. mechanicaly perfect. extra pistons, jugs, gaskets for future upper end rebild. It does not need one. lots of extra parts. 3 complete carb set ups. body work has old age cracks. bike needs to have carbs cleaned. I just dont have the time anymore. fastest bike Ive ever had on the track.

I like the look of this bike so much more than the 89 TZR250 I posted yesterday; not to mention the description in this ad inspires in a way the TZR will never! It's honest, the picture is decent, and I'm sorry, but it's readable. And for $3900, sounds like a screaming deal in parts alone!

1989 Yamaha TZR250 2 Stroke For $5800

Here's another titled and road registered 2 stroke for sale in California, a 1989 Yamaha TZR250 I spotted on Craigslist for $5800:

quote from seller's Craigslist ad:

THIS IS THE ONLY TZR250 THAT I KNOW OF THAT IS CALIFORNIA REGISTERED AND LEGAL TO RIDE ANY WHERE
CLEAN CALIFORNIA PINK THE ONE AND ONLY ONE THAT WILL EVER BE
the made 68 of these bikes a year and they were pre ordered from the year before for about 30 k
thats in japan and thats before import
i bought this bike from a ferrrari mechanic who had 100 bikes and brought this one fom japan
it has a nine digit vin and all stickers are in japanese
he put new tires and tuned it and there it sat for 15 years
i got it a year ago took it to my buddy steve kenny roberts racing former mechanic and he tuned it
then the miricle through my buddy at the DMV went down THIS IS THE ONE AND ONLY TZR PLATED SREET LEGAL AND CLEAN CALIFORNIA TITLED YOU CAN RIDE IT ANYWHERE
it runs perfect

CHECK THE PICS ITS BEAUTIFUL
it has 3000 miles in kilometers

The description of the bike is terrible and I suspect a few of the facts stated to be in question. Mix in a comma or period at least man! Grammar aside, of particular interest is his mention of the 9 digit VIN considering the conversation in the comments recently. Nonetheless, if you've been looking for something more affordable than what's been posted recently, this might be worth the goose chase if you live nearby.

1994 Suzuki RGV Lucky Strike 250cc race replica street bike For Sale

How tasty is this RGV250 wearing the Lucky Strike bodywork?!

quote from seller's Craigslist ad:

Street legal in Arizona. Last registered in 2005. Has enough milage to register in California. This is an original, factory, street legal, limited production Lucky Strike. Clean title, very rare. Finally, after many offers, I 'm ready to part with her. 14,004 km (app 7 k miles). Adult owned, no track days. Was mainly used as display. Have a new set of plastics on the bike[...]

As awesome as this bike is with the title, desirable graphics, and low miles, I just can't see $12k considering how many other 2 strokes I've listed for far less. Am I crazy or is the seller? Leave a comment and tell us what you think!

1996 Honda NSR250 MC28 Repsol Replica SP For Sale in Daytona

This particular example comes with a few caveats such as some light damage on the lower fairing, needs a new oil injection pump, and a price isn't listed with the sale.  But it does state that the mechanicals have been recently refreshed and it carries the all important title.  Even more interesting is how they obtained a title for this typically gray-market import:

HOWEVER, DUE TO A LOOP HOLE, WE HAVE A UNITED STATES TITLE FOR THIS ITEM. TITLED IN FLORIDA. SO, IN THE EVENT YOU FIND ANOTHER BIKE LIKE THIS, IT IS VERY UNLIKELY TO FIND ONE WITH A TITLE ISSUED IN THE UNITED STATES. THAT MAKES OUR EVEN MORE RARE!!

Q: WHERE DID WE GET IT?
Q: HOW DO WE HAVE A TITLE?
MY WIFE DOES AUCTIONS OF ALL TYPES. SHE HAPPENED ON AN AUCTION ONE DAY OF A WAREHOUSE. SHE BOUGHT THE WHOLE CONTENTS WITH SOME ITEMS SEEN AND SOME UNSEEN. BARRIED BY BOXES AND ALL KINDS OF STUFF WAS THIS MOTORCYCLE.

THE STATE OF FLORIDA HAS A PROCESS FOR STORAGE FACILITIES TO AQUIRE TITLES FOR ABANDONDED AND OR UNPAID VEHICALS TO GO FOR SALE AND BE SOLD.

IT REALLY IS A PROCESS AND NOT EASY TO DO. BUT IT IS DONE AND WE HAVE A TITLE FOR THE BIKE. THIS WAS THE LOOP HOLE THAT DID NOT ASK FOR PRIOR TITLES AND OR EPA STANDARDS THAT WOULD PREVENT TITLING.

This kind of detail is usually not provided on the web because it help state agencies to close such loopholes.

Anyway, back to the bike. If you've been on the lookout for a low miles bike in the Southeast, this could be your day. Check out this 1996 Honda NSR250 MC28 For Sale:

quote from seller's Craigslist ad:

1996 HONDA NSR250 NSR 250 REPSOL SP.
FACTORY RACE BIKE.
MC28
SINGLE SIDED SWING ARM - PRO ARM
TWIN CYLDER
TWO STROKE
OIL INJECTED
WATER COOLED
DISC BRAKES - EBC BRAKES
KICK START
DRY CLUTCH
PGMIV MEMORY IGNITION CARD (NO KEY) LOOKS LIKE A CREDIT CARD
DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER
ORIGINAL PLASTICS
10,938 KM OR ONLY 6,797 MILES!!

THIS IS AN ULTRA RARE EXOTIC MOTORCYCLE. FROM MY READING IT APPREARS THAT THIS IS ONE OF ONLY 1,000 MADE FOR THIS YEAR AND MODEL. I BELIVE IT IS 657, LAST NUMBERS IN THE JAPANESE VIN. NOT PRODUCED FOR US EMISSIONS AND NOT IMPORTED HERE FOR STREET USE. BIKES WERE SOLD MOSTLY IN JAPAN OR EUROPE. SO DUE TO US EPA STANDARDS YOU CAN NOT GET A TITLE FOR STREET USE.

Depending on price, this could make for a great track bike or fixer.
