Update 7.22.13: First posted nearly 2 months ago, the seller has alerted us that this bike is for sale for the last time and is no reserve the entire way. Current winning bid is $2550. Links updated. -dc
This VFR700 has only covered a tad over 10k miles and looks fantastic. This seller’s eBay listing should be archived as a “how to” represent a motorcycle for sale online. In addition to an honest description that includes expectations from potential bidders, 75 pictures go over every detail of the bike and should make any remote buyer feel more comfortable with what they’ll get after winning the auction.

1986 Honda VFR700 For Sale on eBay
quote from the seller:
This is truly a time capsule. It is such a nicely preserved original that it could easily hold its own in a museum collection. It has a few VERY minor flaws, but it looks practically new overall. And it runs and rides like new, too! The gear-driven cams are just as cool as the sound they make. The power from the V-Four is smooth and plentiful. And the chassis and brakes make any ride feel like a dream.
As nice as those 75 pictures are, this is does not quite deserve to be archived as a “how to” present a motorcycle for sale. Why not? Because there is ZERO information on the mechanical condition of the thing! Nothing on history, maintenance done, current needs- not a word! That’s a huge ommission for a seller- why wouldn’t you give that information in the description? It makes bidders guess or assume that the bike is mechanically flawless and maintenenace is up to the minute, because the seller didn’t say otherwise. Sure hope that it is, or someone’s going to be disappointed. And I would have spent a little time detailing those white wheels and the chain/suspension area- they’re filthy, and really detract from the overall presentation. That said, it does look pretty and unmolested.
What is a $10 ride-away fee?

+1 on M-t-B’s comments. I’ve refurbished several of these and, while cosmetics tend to sell vehicles, the top dollar comes from a savvy buyer who looks at the complete package.
Joel: Illinois will issue a temporary registration/plate to allow out-of-state buyers to drive the vehicle home. $10
