We’ve actually seen this one before last August, but it was in a combined post. It’s back on eBay for $7900. As the ad states, these fall in to the 25 year rule category and make them a classic, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to import to the U.S. Considering the prices the RG500 brings, $7900 doesn’t sound too bad for this sibling sized RG400 with under 10k miles.

Been for sale for a long time, looks like a nice bike. Will cost $1000 plus to get it to the USA if you ship it. Nice set of exhaust on it, If I had the time I would buy it.
This has the Aluminum frame, it probably has the Japanese Vin. I believe is only 10 digits not the 13 + the U.S. requires?
It should qualify for classic status at the DMV and thus the number of #’s in the VIN shouldn’t make a difference.
I also work for a couple of sports car shops and some of those old Jag’s and Austin Healey’s have just 6 #’s in the VIN, doesn’t matter due to age.

I registered my RG400 in Florida with a BOS and Japanese title (had to get a translation document) and it has 13 digit VIN, no problem. Perfectly legal, all cycles more than 25 years old are exempt from all epa and dot laws.
Dan, only the rz500 jap version has the aluminum frame, all rg400 and rg500 have the same aluminum frame, almost all parts are interchangeable between the bikes.
